AZCENTRAL EMAIL: A Pima County grand jury indicted a University of Arizona football player Friday for sexual assault, a sheriff’s department spokeswoman said Monday.

Johnathan Turner, 23, a defensive end who started a few games last year for the UA and was expected to start this year, is facing a single count of sexual assault, Deputy Down Hanke said.

She said a woman reported the assault the morning of April 3 after drinking with some friends, including Turner, the night before at a residence in 3400 block of North Green Gulch Court.

The woman told investigators she fell asleep on the couch after consuming alcohol and woke up to find Turner sexually assaulting her, Hanke said. Click here to read more…
