If you knew anything about the military, you’d know that soldiers that are deploying get their fare share of bonuses, and they also know what they are signing up for, but that is besides the point.
to haPhelps is recieving money for being a phenomenal swimmer, an olympic legacy, and I’m sure that if you could look past your own shortcomings you’d realize that.
There is a difference between a hero, and an OLYMPIC hero, which Phelps clearly is.

I’m sorry to respond to your senseless venting, I didn’t mean to. Firstly, to win a gold medal in any sporting competition requires “skill” Basically out of 300 million Americans, these are the best we can offer. They go through trials, qualification and they are hand pick to represent USA in the Olympics.
Secondly, Anyone can join the military but anyone can not represent America in Olympics. As a matter of fact by the time i’m done typing this comments, my cousin will be finishing up his transition to United states marine. I’m not trying to diminish their efforts and courage, all I’m saying is that there is a difference between war Hero and Sport hero. They don’t even pay these guys that much like NBA, NFL or Baseball players. If you are lucky as a veteran Olympia, you will get couple of endorsement and to get multiple endorsements you have to be a champion so many times Like M.Phelps and Lance Armstrong.
Finally, When I look up the word “hero” in the dictionary it doesn’t just say “People in military”

Phelps isn’t a hero…he’s a swimmer! Nothing more, nothing less. I am happy for him, but the bottom line is that the guy does one thing well.
No one is forced into the military, but no one is forced to be a swimmer ! So all things equal, the real hereos are the ones giving life and limb for the right to do or say what YOU want!
When this guy joins the army, and defends OUR country, I will give him some respect…until then, he’s just a swimmer.
