***UPDATE*** Angels Pitcher Dead

THE DIRTY ARMY: (TMZ) - Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a felony hit-and-run car accident in Fullerton, California early this morning — hours after he pitched in a game last night. Cops say someone driving a minivan blew through a red light, causing the Mitsubishi that Adenhart and three others were riding in to hit a light pole. Three of the four people in the Mitsubishi were killed in the crash — Nick, another man and a woman — while the fourth occupant remains in the hospital. Cops say the person driving the van fled the scene — but was later caught and charged with felony hit-and-run. The suspect is also being treated for injuries in a local hospital. We’re told one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization. Nick was 22 years old.
My condolences go out to the Adenhart family. Nick will be truly missed. Life is short DIRTY ARMY… make the most of it and stay away from Fullerton (Bad Luck).- nik

***Update***: (TMZ) – Here is the suspect, Andrew Gallo. Cops believe Gallo was driving under the influence and on a suspended license because of a prior DUI. He fled the scene and was arrested. Gallo could be booked on murder charges, along with vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and felony DUI.

While the whole “deport all minorities and the world will be a better place” is fantastically stupid racist idea and all….I think the real way to solve the problem would be to actually force auto makers to make a breathalyzer ignition systems in cars mandatory. Also they would need to retro fit all previous models. It is the only logical way to cut down on these unbelievably sad occurrences.

A tragic accident happened last night. 3 people lost their lives….all too young and beautiful.
I had the pleasure of knowing Nick and was so proud of all his amazing accomplishments! He was a fantastic man…talented, funny, gorgeous, smart, nice to everyone, a good person. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
My condolences go out to Nick’s family and friends and to the family and friends of the other victims who left our world too early.

DUI’s have become a HUGE epidemic the last few years (much more than I remember than before). Maybe it’s the publicity, maybe there is more focus on it these days with LE.
Either way, people choose to drink and get behind the wheel of the a car, and it’s just plain stupid. I’ve done it in the past, but the reality is, it can happen to anyone!!! Everyone always things it won’t happen to them. It’s just a shame that innocent people die because of it.
Until we start passing more legislation with more severe consequences, it will continue to be a problem. Even then, it will still happen, but if we locked up people for more than 24 hours, or whatever the minimum is nowadays, maybe people would get a clue.

Hey, im a huge fan of the dirty and the dirty army and this story hits close to home. nick adenhart was a close friend of mine from high school, and this news hit our hometown pretty hard this morning. not only was nick a great baseball player, but he was one of the funniest and nicest guys that i knew. baseball came as easy to him as speaking english comes to most of us. he was really talented. we had a vigil for him on the baseball diamond of our old hs tonight, and all of us couldnt get over how tragic it is that his bright life was cut short by the stupid and reckless actions of a drunk driver. my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and i hope none of you ever make the irresponsible and selfish decision to drive drunk.
