She’s ignored what the bible says when it comes to her own behavior but sets herself up as spiritually “superior”. Now, I generally have moderate beliefs when it comes to religion and politics(I’m all for gay marriage, they can’t be any worse at it then us straight people) but what worries me in this case is that this girl, even if she has been proven a hypocrite and a liar etc.., was targeted initially because of her opinion. It seems like the media tends to attack and humiliate public figures that express conservative opinions these days. Take a look and the recent presidential election for example, now I was not a huge fan of Sarah Palin but I felt that the media took it too far when they began exposing her personal life and trashing her family. Then there is the case of the shock jock that has been banned from the UK because of his extreme opinions. Is the US media (and the UK’s government, apparently) trying to censor those whose conservative views they don’t like through scare tactics like this? I think that the fear of losing my job and having my reputation ruined would definitely persuade me to keep my mouth shut for fear of having every wrong thing I’ve ever done in my life exposed on the TV and internet. And in all honesty, these pics would have eventually surfaced even if Prejean had said that she loves all gays and wished that they ruled the world.

Miss Nevada was stripped of her crown because of pictures a few years ago and everyone was talking about that and checking out the pic then, too. The difference is she handled it better and told the truth. I think Carrie had every right and should have voiced her honest opinion when asked at Miss USA and I don’t hold it against her. oh, good question! obviously it is better to speak the truth…which she did not do. yes she was honest in one aspect, about her beliefs, but at the same time she was blatantly dishonest in her pageant contract and to the public. yes her answer pissed off people and made them go digging for dirt when they normally wouldn’t have. however, had she truly been an honest person, they would have found nothing. she should be allowed to have her opinion without be crucified for it. but if she is also putting herself out there as a honest christian, when she is not, then she has no room to cry foul when she gets busted for being the liar she is. the press conference wasn’t about her views on gay marriage, it was about her breaking her contract.
so what set of values are we REALLY inforcing here? it is ok to be honest sometimes and not others? sorry but her deceit in other aspects of her life has made it impossible for anyone to use the “she was just speaking the truth!” argument, atleast not without making her a hypocrite with no credibility.
