THE DIRTY ARMY: (Boston.com) - Former Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel, who led the Patriots to an 11-5 record after taking over for an injured Tom Brady in the 2008 season-opener, has parlayed his one season as an NFL staring quarterback into a lucrative long-term contract.

A source close to Cassel has confirmed that Cassel has agreed to a six-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, who are now run by former Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli. The source has confirmed…that Cassel’s deal is for $63 million over the six years, $28 million guaranteed.

News of a long-term deal was first reported by the Kansas City Star.

The 27-year-old Cassel was scheduled to play this season under the franchise tag, which the Patriots placed on him following the 2008. The franchise deal was a one-year contract that would have paid Cassel $14.65 million this season. This new deal rips up and replaces the franchise tag contract.

He is the best quarterback to come out of USC, but he will fail hard on the Chiefs.- nik

    You’re half right.

Carson Palmer is the best QB to come out of USC, but Cassell will fall in KC.

Speaking of USC QBs, another big bust will be Mark Sanchez.

      I say............ says:

Hey Douche Tard, few QB’s get thrown into the starting line up out of college and succeed right away. Yes this is cut and paste of just two. I can name many more. After being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1979 draft, Montana sat on the bench behind veteran Steve DeBerg.Steve Young sat behind then 49er quarterback, Joe Montana, for four years. In the 1991 season after Montana was forced out by injuries, Steve lead the NFL in passing efficiency with a 101.8 quarterback rating his first year as the starter. He has garnered this honor in 6 of the last 7 years, and holds the all time highest NFL quarterback rating of 112.8 for the 1994 “Superbowl” season.
I wouldn’t count Leinart out at this point.

    I say............ says:

No Nik, you’re a fool! He is not the best QB to come out of USC ,not even close. Several better QB’s have come out of SC. The problem is they HAD to go to crap teams. Kind of like a prearranged Persian Marriage of death. I know your office just has gays and airheads. Try employing it with club going, gun toting lazy purples who spend more time in court than on the practice field. Stay away from sports and stick to “would you” We both know you will never score with either of them.

Cassel is not better than Palmer you dumb f*ck. Cassel didn’t even do that great with the stacked offense that he had last year, he had a couple good games but other than that was very mediocre. tbh Matt would of done better
