Have you tried to get a job recently? Brains aren’t necessarily worth much in this economy. I have a degree from a top-20 university, with a good GPA and an above-average resume, and no employers are even contacting me back, let alone giving me an interview. The only thing guaranteed to sell right now in this godforsaken country is tits and ass. Do I like this? No. Do I want to parade myself around like a piece of meat? No. But you know what? I don’t want to have to take any money from my emotionally abusive parents. I don’t want to have to mooch off my boyfriend, who already has two unemployed family members to take care of on a modest salary that’s only guaranteed for a year. I don’t want to sit at home bored for the rest of my life because I can’t afford to go anywhere or do anything. And so I keep coming back to the idea of selling myself– I hate it, I don’t want to do it, I keep resisting it… but things just will not get easier…

I am the person who hires nurses, disciplines them, runs the unit and know first hand the poor training, poor schools that most nurses come from, especially in this US where many schools are not accredited. I would suggest you get a life and try to understand the real world and the academic world. You are probably like the ones my departments (yes, I run a few of them) support and laugh at when you try to “fix” the problem you caused yourself.
Truth is, we need good nurses. Ones who actually care about the patients and ones who understand how to provide good service understanding the reward of doing so. We need nurses who want to improve the workflows to help the business lower costs so they can survive in the decreasing reimbursements from gov’t entities. Plus, if you knew your field, you would know there is a major shortage of nurses. Just because someone worked at the kilt or hooters, or another similar establishment doesn’t mean they are of low character and don’t qualify for the glorious rewards nursing provides.
So how about YOU get a life and leave people who are actually working for a living alone.
Well anon, I do work for a living, and I put myself through all 4 universities ( with clothes I might add) I am well aware of the nursing shortages in the states, the unit I run, and ones I have run were typical of any system burdened with the pressures of staff shortages, and having to hire nurses from schools that are second rate. For your knowledge, not all nursing schools are equal or even credentialed the same. as a feminist practitioner I do wonder about the character of someone who chooses to work at a tilted kilt/ strip bar etc, there are thousands of other choices. I doubt someone with three BA’s and a Master’s would be looking on this site lol. Any who I’m a fellow kilt girl, and I graduated from ASU in which I was a double major. I also graduated with a 4.00 gpa-summa cum laude. The kilt I work nearly all the girls are going to school: either a university, nursing school, law school, finishing up their master’s program, even the police academy. One girl already has her master’s and is using it as an inbetween job. Another one is waiting to finish up her BA so she can be an officer in the military, and one girl is on leave for OCS. Only a small percentage of girls who don’t have anything to fall back but their looks work here. But that happens at any restaurant (not the looks part, just those who have nothing else to offer).

On the one had u stated that someone with 3 degrees and a masters would not be on such a site, and then u turn around and state that all the women u work with are in university or completing a masters, or have some astounding job offer. I visited this site because of the various lawsuits the TK is involved in, regarding hiring practices, abuses and expectations of the girls, inappropriate firing when girls do not conform etc, etc. One of the women that work in the hospital I work in, worked at the Kilt and what she has to say about her experience does not mirror what is said here. She said that anyone with any self-esteem or any other option gets the hell out of the TK asap. The ones that stay are the ones that like the lifestyle and hope to find a man. At the interview we had to try the outfits on and all the girls ( my new co-workers) are damn good looking. So, I just went to the scottsdale location and they have decent looking girls , but from what I saw no one was friendly and everyone including the managers looked like they did not want to be there, plus its football season . I really liked the peoria location. But snottsdale never more.

I love the Kilt! The gals do a fine job. The food there is excellent and yes, the outfits are a bit revealing, but as someone said, no one put a gun to their head to make them work there. So I’ve never been to the TK, but from reading all the comments I have come to the understanding that its not really any different from Hooters and yet everyone loves Hooters so what gives? I have dated both bartenders and servers, but not from Tilted. Servers work their asses off and put up with rude people (&drunks) all the time. Usually they work 6-10 tables. Guys hit on them all the time even if the girl is married. Women are outright rude especially if you forget something.
Sometimes when my bartending girl needed some extra cash because of a missed shift she would tie her shirt so it was tighter or show her navel and pick up $25 -50 extra. Nothing slutty but guys would eat that up anyway. Or just be extra nice and the tips come in. She did have coworkers that would wear flirtier outfits and they could make extra money but put up with extra crap. Women in any bar environment will make extra $ if they dress more revealing whether at Tilted or the corned pub.
Most of these chicks are far from hot, but there are a few that are pretty fine. Much like Hooters attitude. Show them the money!!! One step up from strippers, and all working their way through college.

Being a very proud Kilt Girl myself, (in the Birmingham,AL) I would also like a set few things straight. Most of the girls that work here do not party, don’t sleep around at all and we DEFINATLEY dont think we are any better than anyone. (well except Hooters because we are haha) We represent the Tilted Kilt image. At my location we are very specific on who gets hired, we like to keep the trash out and the mean girls out. Everyone that works here is so incredibly nice and caring. We genuinely want our guests to enjoy the experience of dining with us. Which I think when couples come in can be misconstured as us flirting or being in your business. For me Personally and I know the girls that work with me would never be so disrespectful as to do that. Also we do not get “groped” we have a ZERO tolerance touching/groping policy.. If a guest is touchy or grabby he will be asked to leave. I just think we need to break down this societal idea that as women we all have to hate each other I think everyone is beautiful for who they are come on girls we’re all in this together!

I plan on going to an open interview for a job as a kilt girl. Comparing this situation to a strip club is a red herring… patently false. I have the personality to back up my Tilted Kilt looks. That’s a huge reason they hired me. I am genuinely sweet, smart, and interested in people. Can’t make generalizations for everyone, but I’m sure you’re right in some instances.

As a former Tk girl (4 years of employment) reading this post is very humorous to me. Most of these girls are either in high school or college, give them a break. It’s a job and merely that. Some of the younger girls may let it get to their heads, but most of us despise putting the outfits on like any job uniform. Before entering the floor we screw on our smilies and suck it up for our 5 hour shift and then go home to our real lives. I myself am now working at a successful Architecture and Design firm. Moral of the story; working at the kilt is just another job getting people by until they finish college and get the job of their dreams. Its a fun atmosphere and the girls do make good money, but they are not flashing or showing anything more then a bikini. Actually, it covers more then a bikini. Restaurants are a great job for college students schedules and the kilt is exactly that. Yes the girls are wearing skimpy outfits but who cares. Guys stare at girls chests in all environments, whether you want them to or not. These girls are just waitresses, merely that. You will have your good ones, bad ones, sweet ones and slutty ones… thats what makes life interesting. Its a bar and people love themes.

Hi, just wanted to add to whomever said that they are not all in “Law school/Med School” You are darn straight!! Most are not, I mean myself included, I will tell you what I am though…….My “day job” is in law enforcement. I am not a police officer but my role there is just as important and stressful, and I work ten hour shifts having their backs if something goes wrong. I took THIS job as a FUN, RELEASE from my stressful life and if some man wants to tip me 50% of his bill b/c I am wearing a bra and school girl shirt that doesnt make me slutty for taking it Would a Dennys or TGI fridays waitress refuse a 50% tip?? NO. I put in my time there and then I go on my way back to my husband and kids. Its not a lifestyle, its a job, to me and many others a PART time job! And I love the place b/c my cars are paid off, I have no credit card debt and my kids get to travel to places that I never got to as a kid. So if a beautiful woman who happens to have 32D sized chest offends you, please go hang out at a different place, I can assure you hot women are there too, with large chests and I am pretty sure they get oogled.
I am not righting this as a defense for what I do in any way. First off. If you feel comfortable and confident in the uniform that’s all that mattered. Im a kilt girl and its honestly the most fun I’ve had at any job. We have a no touch policy and I make about 300 per night. It takes a specific type of personality to work here. Every one of us is outgoing fun confident and nice. I’ve never worked in a place where all the girls act like a family. None of us are wanna be strippers, more like wannabe doctors. I just became a nurse and I still do this on the weekends. The only ppl that are trash talking us are probably unreasonably conservative/ religious, or just jealous that they don’t have the body to do it themselves. Seriously ppl don’t make generalizations about ppl based on looks. Understand that this is an innocent job that most of us are paying for college with.
I have been to one store twice and find it very nice, no one has forced the haters below to go there if it bothers you so much stay away I will be sure to check out other places
Not all of these girls are brainless skanks. I’m a biochemstry/pre-med major who scored a 1950 on the SATs… AND a kilt girl. I work this job not to be “ogled at by old men” but because it makes me the best money, and it is a great, fun environment. Well,I must say, I’ve never been to the TK nor would I ever step foot there. I think it’s repulsive and degrading. I give oir newly opended TK a year or so, it will disolve just as Hooters did here. Why, might you ask? Theme bars are short lived. Bars and restaraunts that promote family environments are the only long standing establishments. The food may be out of this world, but if the environment is raunchy and tacky people will stray away. I myself am a senior at Notre Dame Uni and have 44D, 5’11 blond, blue eyed and 150..but would I ever even remotely consider working at a place such as that NO WAY!!!!! Hi Ms. Criminal Justice Major: I too have worked at the Tilted Kilt in the Chicago area. I took the job when I was in dire financial problems, and it was either take that job, or drop out of the University of Chicago. So against my morals and values, I went to work there. I agree with you that not all TK girls are in the same. Some try to maintain some level of dignity while wearing those skanky uniforms. However for the most part – it is pretty disgusting place to be … you see the worst behaviour in the drunken boys/men that go there; you see worse behaviour in many of the employees. About 1/2 the girls I worked with WERE strippers as well, strip joint owners came in there to recruit girls; a few of the girls were working as well for escort agencies and set up their dates from the men they served. This was common knowledge. Management liked the girls that stripped because they were very comfortable waltzing around in next to nothing, knew how to play the men and women for that matter, which translates into patrons spending more money better for the bar, bigger tips for the girls that would drink, party and wear g-string underwear and flash stupid tattoos, placed on parts of the body that should not be disfigured. so is it all innocence and good old fashion fun – bull shit!!!! I know that everyone needs to work, but for the 2 years that I worked at TK, I was always trying to find new work in a better establishment and I eventually found it. So to make stupid commits like “I’m thinking infidelity” Really?!? what are you basing such comments on … every one has the right to an opinion and just because it is different from yours does not make them some type of wounded woman/man. However your comments do indicate your level of sophisticated, critical thinking … what program are you actually involved in – seems they have not taught you much about critical discourse. Try to read what people have to say with out the defence and anger you demonstrate in your post.
I worked in the bar scene for 7 years and no matter what anyone says, yes it is a lifestyle. When these girls grow up (if they grow up) they will realise that. People around you constantly partying and drinking and a lot of people on drugs and doing god knows what else (servers included). You can’t tell me that it has no negative impact on a persons life when always surrounded by it. When you’re some nineteen year old just starting out in that world sure it seems like a blast and for a while it is (years even). Reality is that people who surround themselves with that environment and go out of their way to make it that much worse by accepting a uniform like that as appropriate there’s a greater underlying issue and they’re seeking attention in the wrong way. It’s fun an enjoyable… for the wrong reasons. Not only that it’s a major societal issue preying on people who are desperate for this lifestyle or just to get by or who think it’s a good time (classic example of teenage girl rebellion btw) and it’s just another way women are holding themselves back from being taken seriously in the work force. Dressing like that and calling it professional you may as well be a stripper because you’re telling everyone else that a server is an object. It’s places like this that make people think it’s okay to come into the type of bars I worked in and grab and grope the girls there, and our uniforms are classy and tasteful and not at all sexual. In my experience when someone comes in with thier husband or their father nobody wants little miss sexual dangling over your jalapeno poppers while she passes him a beer so he can get a good view in hopes for a fat tip. Would you want your own daughter working there? Probably not. There’s nothing to be proud of in it!! What, your stunning looks? Oh joy, those will fade in 20 years then what’s left? Integrity? Not in that lifestyle. When you lack integrity you lack a life worth living. I hope these girls get it back and find the things that are obviously lacking in their lives

I have a BA and an MBA and considering a phD. I enjoy school and even though you have a degree, that piece of paper makes no difference in this economy! Employers want experience! Regardless of whether or not you have a college degree or graduate degree it’s hard to get any kind of job. I’m over qualified to work at most restaurants even if I remove my degrees from my résumé. I have nothing against working at a restaurant like Tilted Kilt if that’s what you have to do to make ends meet. To each their own…and nobody is an idiot for it either.
Went there for the first time last night but had no idea what to expect. Wanted to leave a review and stumbled on this. I don’t get it? Why is everyone hating on these girls? The waitress I met last night seemed confident and enjoying herself. If it doesn’t bother them, why bash them. Like Hooters, this restaurant has its customer base. The economy is tough, and its hard to be taken seriously if you are pretty. Would you rather these girls just collected unemployment (tax money for doing nothing).
And why bash nursing? And since when can you get a license in any state and work in a hospital without a degree? I thought all the diploma programs were gone (even though they were accredited). I went to nursing school and medical school. It took a much higher GPA to get into the nursing program I went to. So to those posters who said nurses were dumb or brainless, name me one program in the country that isn’t accredited and puts out R.N.s or LPNs. That can sit for state exams. Or name one place where you can work without passing boards. I say you are FOS (a medical term for constipated)
And the girl. Pretty. A couple I saw last night I wouldn’t choose, but they were not ugly. Ugly is what some people are on this board
I did one in Valencia and the manager set it up on the side for us…only $150 for everything. I think they split it 100-50. Good value and was cool wit #2
