THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, I know you love your dirty athletes bro. Check out Cardinal’s tight end, Ben Patrick. Currently serving a 4 game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. Looks like he is enjoying the time off the Cards gave him playing some beer pong. Check out how beat these asu chicks are. Isn’t he a little old to be at Co-ed parties? They gotta be 19, 20 at the max. Third pro season, I’d hope I was on to bigger and better things. He probably feels like a god around them. I was there the night of this and it has been blown completely out of context – Ben had only dropped around to pick up his mate who he went to duke with and whom currently goes to ASU.
As with all fans out there we just wanted our picture taken with a football star (if you met a pro-athlete and had the opportunity to get a photo you would!).
Shortly after we went to a friend’s place and Ben and his mate went elsewhere.
Firstly, it is ridiculous that he has been crucified for simply being in a photo with some fans – the fans that support the NFL and without fans the NFL wouldn’t exist as there would be no money to put players on big time contracts! I believe players have a personal responsibility to ensure fans are given their fare share back where possible (ie. In situations like this where we wanted photos)! That is simply my personal opinion – and it seems to be right coz I bought a cardinals jersey the next day (more revenue for the NFL).
Secondly, if any of you had actually met Ben personally, you would realise that he is one of the most down-to-earth and polite pro-athletes around – I have met a few pro-athletes and none have been as willing to answer the million-and-one questions we had to ask him (as annoying as that would have been!) – I’m sure if you ever do get to meet him your opinion would be changed instantly!
Thirdly, those of you that are using racially generated insults need to find something more productive to do with your life.

I think you just supported what everyone is saying. He has every right to party mate, but he is a NFL player and he has fans who look up to him. I don’t think dropping pants and grabbing on to a girl’s ass is the proper kind of publicity photo the NFL supports. And an overwhelming majority of people will never meet or sit down with a pro athlete, their opportunity to let us know who they are comes through interviews, videos and photos.
