Wow, so that’s the kind of spelling and grammar a college degree teaches you? The world is doomed.

It’s only political science, not a real degree. It’s basically a degree in reading the newspaper.

hi sasquatch. can u help me understand something? do u feel better about yourself by going on to sites such as the esteemed thedirty.com and denigrating others for not using proper grammar and spelling in their iphone chat program? if i were to write lol in a text would you think less of me because i did not use a complete sentence? it’s an iphone app, not a phd thesis. relax. oh i’m sorry i’ve noticed several flaws in my writing also.

Yes, I would think less of you, or at least differently about you. This site, for all its charm and wonder, is chock full of horrible grammar and spelling. I absolutely judge the submitters and even Nik on how they write. The fact that you think it is silly to judge based on how you type on your phone indicates that for you good grammar and spelling requires effort. With a good education it should be effortless and evidenced in all your communication. I don’t need to flip through a dictionary or writing guide to text without error, though I’ll gladly forego punctuation and capitalization to save time. I don’t think people who do otherwise are idiots, but certainly they have a different level of education when it comes to language and writing.

i understand this, but if you’re on a cell phone and you’re going to send a text like “lol ur an idiot” i don’t think that bares any judgment on a person’s grammar skills. short hand english use became accepted because of texting.

    haha says:

People who know how to spell correctly don’t bother spelling incorrectly on the internet just because it’s not a “thesis.” I never even graduated college and I spell better than half of my friends, some of who are teachers. Now THAT is sad. Read a book, people.
