Bellagio Robbed For 2 Million In Chips

Bellagio Robbed

THE DIRTY ARMY: Hey Nik, the Bellagio got robbed for nearly $2million in chips. The guy was wearing a motorcycle helmet and seems to have gotten away with it so far. How long do you think it will take to catch this guy and do you think they will report that they caught him or do you think if they find him they will take care of this guy old school vegas style?

They wont catch him. If this is who I think it is… that 2 million is gone.- nik

Assuming it’s a man… ;) he can’t cash the chips at any casino other than the bellagio… Also no one is tracking anything. It would cost more to find the chips than the chips are worth.

how can you walk into a casino with a helmet on and not have any security notice it at 4 am when there is no action going on. the guy has on white gloves too. Anyways, no way he can launder those chips , maybe the 100 but not the higher denominations, they all have a tracking device on it

Every high value casino chip has an RFID chip inside it with a unique serial number. These can be read from significant (10s of meters) distances with high powered readers. Your chips can be read as you walk through the casino or down the strip.

Truth, your name should be “idiot”. Every Bellagio chip has the tracker. When I cashed in 1,000 chip they not only called the table i played, put it through a hologram, checked the id# on the chip..idiot. You really must be a 12/hr worker if you believe the casinos dont prepare themselfs for an event like this with big marked chips. I bet they put a press release saying they arent marked so the robber would come back and feel safe cashing them, but then again you are “the truth” which really correlates to you being anything but educated.

I’m with Anonymous #1. Nik, stop trying to act like some super cool Vegas Insider. It was pathetic enough earlier in the year when you acted like you could run Hard Rock and were giving them ‘advice’ on how to run their clubs and restaurants – now you allegedly know criminals pulling multi-million jobs in town? Come on. Please call Metro with your theory – sure they’ll have a good laugh. Going to be hard to launder that many chips without accomplices – and not have one of them screw up.

Completely useless considering the only place you can cash them is The Bellagio and many of those chips have RFID tags.

I work at a casino in Vegas and have never heard of being able to cash your chips at another casino. That makes no sense what-so-ever. Why would the Rio pay out on the Wynn’s chips? The casinos are mostly owned by different companies/individuals.

    dirty matt says:

OK here is the deal. If you have chips from an MGM property you can cash them at any MGM property.

Up untill 5 years ago all casinos would take other casinos chips. There was a service that use to come once a month and collect all the other chips and trade your out etc. They went out of business.

There is no tracking device on the chips. RFID maybe but you wont be able to track the chips based on that. The RFID is used to fight against card counting. They have software that watches your betting when you are playing blackjack. (Live Games)

This whole thing started in 2008-2009. The first guy walked into the Las Vegas Hilton on paradise and hit a cage in the sports book and got 500K. He parked his bike outside the door got off and walked in. He stuck up a cage in the sports book at 5am. The strange thing is that this cage was located next to a door in a part of the casino that was empty at that hour. That cage is now closed. The guy had a motor cycle helmet on the whole time and got away with it. From what I understand they found the bike ditched on the east side but they never caught him.

If you read the book “Storming Las Vegas” you can find out about the first Bellagio robbery by Jose Vigoa. He robbed Bellagio, DI, NYNY and a bunch of banks and armored cars. He was the one who started it all but he always robbed the cage and never took chips he always took cash.

    yoko says:

you can cash chips in at other casinos if they are under a 100$(normal policy) they want you to cash in and spend the money there, not the original casino you recieved them from. But this guy recieved casino chips of high denomination like 25,000. you cant just be anybody and walk in anywhere and cash those in. Even pawn shops will be looking out. Vegas isnt stupid, money is their business.

I have a strong suspicion that this was done by a poker player. Bellagio happen to be the chips that are universally used as currency. And to cash $5ks, u need to show your MGM mIrage ID and show play that would result in you having one of those chips. He will be able to cash the blacks, purples, and yellows. Cranberries $25k and flags $5k, no shot.

    top flight says:

Ok, for those of you who dont actually work security or know what youre talking about youre all ignorant. casinos DO you chips inside the chips to track them, you CAN cash chips at other casinos, there still is a service where a gentlemen or lady comes to the casino to do a thing called a chip exchange where they pick up all the chips from said casino that other guests have brought and cashed from other peoperties. if anything, bellagio will track all the people in the players club and track what theyve bet and cancel out all the chips on the floor and make new ones while contacting every other establishment and letting them know not to cash bellagio chips. it probably costs 1/1000 to make new chips for the entire casino then what was stolen, dont worry theres plenty of other ways for the casino to cover their 6.

    toodles
