Am I the only one who sees that Entertainment industries are RARELY ever stable? Most people in entertainment are broke, breaking wishbones, looking for four leave clovers, and scratching lottery tickets. Metaphors…really. Let me clarify- Unless you were already born rich and connected, entertainment is like GAMBLING. You never really get paid well enough unless you actually just MAKE IT. It’s a huge waste of time. This is where a lot of people will end up (except without the benz or range rover) but they don’t yet realize it because they are young and think time will remain on their side all the time. On this site alone, there are those twins who think they can sing, act, dance but they are 24 with no talent. Then theres a slew of “models” who will never ever see a runway ever. Entertainment is just so unrealistic, and the crowds and crowds of people flocking into that field make it even more unrealistic. So many successful “entertainers” were just freak accidents. Random occurrences of luck. Yes you can work hard to make it, yes you can strive but while you do you will always witness people surpassing you who haven’t worked nearly as hard. You can work all your life like this guy, trying to be a legit person in entertainment then a couple of guido kids with spray tans and gel can get picked out of a hat to be on reality tv titled jersey shore. Thats just how entertainment is. It’s luck based. And not everyone wins that lottery. You are better off finding a very high paying proffession and then USING your money to publicize yourself. Entertainment should be a play thing not the main thing. I don’t think people should take entertainment seriously until they experience a break big enough to do so. He basically put all his eggs in the basket of one industry and failed, and he probably failed at earlier ages too but he kept thinking one day just one day he’d make it. Now look at him. Ok, I actually read your entire post and it was interesting. The problem is, the vast majority of people think they’re special and unique. The reality is, they’re average with little to no talent. Watch the American Idol auditions. 99.9% of these dunces wait in line for hours to humiliate themselves because someone tried to be “nice” by telling them they have talent. I’ve met 5’2″ toads who are quick to tell me they “model” or MidWest Plain Janes who come out to be the next Julia Roberts. Morons… all of them. Umm What do you think Advertiseing and Marketing is? I am a sales person that sells adv & marketing strategies & campaigns. I have been doing it sucessfully for 14 years. It was a great way stay home w/ my children and have a career as well. Although I am not a millionaire (nor are the HW) I make a solid living at over 90-100K on an average year. I have earned over 150k-175 in my best years. I work from home and raised my kids, travel when needed to some amazing places and make a great living so..Jump off
Say it once, say it a million times. People who work in sales are people who do not have the cognitive skills to work in a real profession that requires a license. Examples being Engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc. Sorry, it is the truth. If your job is commission based it only means you are not worth paying a salary to. Maybe in the next life you can contribute something of value to the world.
I like being in sales at 100percent commission I make more than most other professions. It takes a real confident person to be in sales.
