3rd year in my communications degree and im so pissed off knowing it wont get me anywhere , i applied for so many jobs through my school this year in that field and got nowhere .

Okay, so you do not need a title to succeed. Also, the vast majority without a title does not succeed. It depends on the person. I think this post is pretty bad, because going to college proves that you are a person able to commit, or do you think it is easy to take three, four, five more years of education? And anyways, also being educated and having a culture improves the kind of person you are. Altough I am already aware that manners in USA mean nothing.

Well, not everyone strikes gold by developing a popular website and making ridiculous amounts of money from it. If you plan on doing anything other than being an entrepreneur I think college is pretty important. The economy sucks. Being educated just gives you a little upper hand. I’ve got a BS is psychology and I’m a director at a software company. And I’m 28. Sure I’m not a millionaire but I live pretty comfortably. Just saying….

I have owned my own business for over 10 years. During these years, I have employed over 100 young people, many of who were either attending a university at the time or had just graduated. Of the total of amount of these people, 95% percent were completely useless and could not think for themselves. The BEST employees my company EVER had were the ones whose parents made them get a job at a young age and pay their own way. This country is headed towards a disaster due to the way that the 80′s generation has raised their kids thinking that they are ENTITLED to EVERYTHING just because they have a college education. If you want to make it in life, you need more BALLS than brains.

I completely disagree! YES there are some students who don’t get it and STILL manage to get their degrees. But the majority of great paying jobs MUST have that sheet of paper, whether it’s generals – masters!

Nik is correct.. Many professions (any of the IT professions, accounting, hell even LAW!) you can teach yourself. There’s was a family Doctor in Canada with forged degrees from Dominican Republic (probably many) and all his patients claimed he was a top notch Doctor.
I agree that many professions don’t need a degree, however I do not want to have a doctor that was self taught. I want a doctor who has gone through medical school and completed their residency.
Their are WAY TOO MANY fake doctor’s in the world! Fake anything really! They lie, and cheat their way into the big world and 99.9% of them get caught stealing money from people, conning people.

A college degree is like anything in life, it’s what you make of it. Are there idiots who are going to get a degree and never make a ton of money and get their dream job… yes. These idiots were going to be like that without a degree too.
It works both ways though. There are people who will do good without degrees that get them anyway. It should really be a personal choice. I didn’t go to college after high school and ended up making more than most of my degreed friends. Now, I am going back because I want to, not because I have to.
I don’t think a degree will make or break someone’s success. There are too many traits to being succesful in life, a degree is just a small component of success.

This video is wrong on so many levels. Don’t get me wrong, some parts are right on the money, but doesn’t everyone know that you shouldn’t pick a major in college that you know won’t give you a good chance at a job? I’m sick of seeing people go to art school and paying $30,000 a year for a career that isn’t extremely useful to society and isn’t very well paying. I agree though, college is way too freakin’ expensive. Ugh its this kind of bull that makes me scared to finish college with no guarantee that I will get a job.
Nik, we already have “The Dirty.” No one else can do that….especially since there is only so much demand for a website that posts idiots and makes fun of them. The rest of us need college. Well, the rest of us need a WORTHWHILE college education. It’s all about who you know. I don’t have a connection to anyone who could even mildly help me start up a business or break into media…nor do I have that desire. Let us emphasize on the GETTING INTO the medical field because I know so many kids, while I was an undergrad, waste 4-6 years of their life and money just trying to GET INTO medical school to only be rejected.

About college being a scam, yes its a racket for the most part flooding the workforce with educated morons. I’m sick of this site encouraging women to get by on their looks and mooch off men the rest of their lives. Now you are encouraging people to not attend college? If you suck, you wont get a job. You have to have some sort of trade in order to be successful. My suggestion would be to diversify you’re skills and explore what you like with different types of employment while in college. By the time you are a senior, start or get involved in a not for profit organization and try and create results. Being involved and recognized is a huge trait to work on while in college. GPA is just a gatekeeper for entry level jobs, after that, its how well you do from there that determines your success. Think of it like this, you can be successful without college, but college definitely puts you on a fast track, at least with my degree. This video is loaded with skewed statistics similar to the ones they knock on. If you truly are an outlier and don’t need college then more power to you. Understand this though, the goal of a university in the US is not for you to master just one subject. It is to gain a greater amount of knowledge in all areas with an emphasis in one, making you more diverse and capable in your future of learning. Anyone trying to dispute the fact that college is beneficial must be justifying their own decision. It’s more than just academia, rather life lessons and skills you can obtain in college if you apply yourself. Sure you can change your name to become more accepting to Americans, marry a woman you didn’t know for more than 24 hours, finally create a website that is popular, maybe get a couple DUI’s. Chances are this isn’t going to happen to you haha and even if it does do you really think this will lead to happiness? Nik might be the #1 hated person in the world that isn’t actually famous.
