Scholarship athletes do get an allowance in the form of a monthly check. They get a free education in exchange for their services.
Schools make money off them because they get to go to school do free..unlike most of us that leave school and have over 32,000 in loans to pay…Need to go a head and give Miami the needle..they should check out the baseball team also..Miami needs a mens golf team..they should have room after the NCAA is done withthem..lol..

I just got done talking about this with someone. They need to start paying these kids because they make TONS of money off of them. They cant work and they are flat out broke. They play like superstars and everyone treats them like one but in reality they hardly have enough money to eat. Nik is right about these kids being from the hood because they are and of course they are going to take money. OSU is going downhill with them and you best believe more schools are having people pay for play.
They get a free education, all the white girls they want, and an opportunity to go pro. Slim to none chance someone can go pro without the college level.
Happens at every major NCAA athletic program. Don’t be so naive.

This poster has left out some vital pieces of information in regard to this. I had to go on yahoo sports to find the article. It has nothing to do with the players being from the “hood”, but the blame is squarely on the booster. He wanted to recruit and make the players happy with U of M probably pushing it under the table. The abortion story stated how he handled it without the player knowing after he received a call from the stripper. He was quoted as saying that he did not tell the kid because he may have wanted to keep it.

Why is anyone surprised that the U of Miami is cheating?? they probably have been doing it for years, just like every other major football college team. half their football roster over the years also has been made up of a ton of northwestern high school kids, so i wouldnt be surprised if there was some shady recruiting going on too.
