Majority black. “The census reported that the city had 82.7% Black (82.1% non- hispanic black)”-cenus.org The City is also 47% “functionally illiterate”. Consequently meaning roughly 1 out of every 2 black people in Detroit cannot read or write properly to complete everyday tasks or be competitive at a job. Union cronyism and over migration from the south ruined that city.
fyi- when people from Detroit talk about the “Detroit nightlife” it rarely consists of bars and clubs in the actual city of Detroit. Royal Oak, Novi, Pontiac (ten years ago), Birmingham, etc.
