wow. unbelieveable! it is every bit as honorable to recieve a scholarship and NOT accept it. that money was essentially taken from a perspective college student who actuallly needed it. (the entire point of scholarships in the first place!) cool that this kid recieved a scholarship for 54,000 and that is less than the cost of one of his earrings.
It was a merit scholarship not a financial based one so the money wasn’t taken from anyone who needed it. He was awarded it because he earned it

But for the people saying he shouldn’t get it because they are rich, where do you draw the line? What if someone’s dad makes $10M/year, is his son allowed a scholarship? What about $1M/year, is that son allowed a scholarship? If you earn it, you should get it, it shouldn’t matter how much money you make.

The kid is an average player. His other offers were low level schools. UCLA took him for the publicity and the hope that his dad with bring money into the school. When a school recruits you to play football for them, they usually offer a scholarship. This has nothing to do with if he can afford going to college or not based on his parents’ income.
