And about 200 rabbis have already signed a proclamation. Most modern “mohels” — men trained to perform religious circumcisions, who are usually rabbis or doctors — remove blood from the baby’s wound using a sterile pipette. Now don’t get me wrong Nik, I’m proud to live in America and I think it’s important that people are allowed to practice whatever religion they want. But this is where it starts to get into the grey area…when church and state come into question. People are entitled to their own religious practices. But when a child’s health is at risk, is it ok for the government to step in?
