Burning Man: Where To Begin
THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik I just got back from burning man and all I can say is good lord!!! if you are not a fan of hallucinogens you should not go…EVER! I went with some friends who insisted I go from attending previous years. Within minutes of getting there we were handed both pills and some hit of acid, yep thats right, they were HANDED TO US!! from some strange old man who painted himself…needless to say I didn’t take them, my friends did. I ended up losing them and hid out in the RV we rented pretty much the entire time. The place was disgusting, people were OD’ing left n right, there were fights, robberies, u name it. I felt like I was living in a deserted back alley, and stuck there for the weekend! smoking weed and doing the occasional MDMA does not include u in the strange breed of druggies that come here. My buddies were curled in a ball for one of the days because of the triptacsy they took. The place is dirty (that’s a given), packed with old hermit looking dudes who nbring things to trip you out and gays (tons and tons of gay dudes),, ugly chicks who ran around naked (which made them even more gross). I could go on for days about how bad this place is, I think everyone should take my word for it and not go, unless you’re a degenerate or a bum. Spread the word nik, down with burning man! what a waste of money. Also, the number of little kids there was wayyyyyy to high. I saw at least 100 kids undetr the age of 10.
You get what you sign up for. People don’t go to this event for the “art”… they go to get high with other degenerates.- nik

I was a previous visitor of this site when I caught my student laughing at a story about prostitutes, drug use, and rectums. Needless to say, I wasn’t very happy. I still think your website is disgusting. Please clean it up. However that is not why I am writing.
My problem is with this Burning Man convention. A place filled with Homosexuals and drug addicts are no place for children. I went on AOL and searched for more information about Burning Man. It said that they sell tickets to children. Basically any age can come. Is it me or should this be illegal? I do not understand how regulatory agencies could let this happen. I will be writing the state of Nevada to express my concern directly.

I agree that no child should be around drugs and the type of partying that goes on at burning man – but in no way shape or form is a gay man OR woman being around a child going to harm them unless they are on drugs and violent or have mental problems which would cause them to hurt a child which in any case could very well be anyone in the world- being gay or straight has nothing to do with that.

I’ve never been to Burning Man but I do however, know very many burners – and the funny thing is that I would willingly, any day testify that Burners are 95% of the time better people (in general) than any of the other people that I know. They are very kind and open-hearted. They don’t judge or live lives of fancy and materialism. I’m terribly offended by this post lol. Guess that’s the point.
MODERN DAY Burning Man is quite a bit different than it was originally meant to be. A good amount of the sanctity is GONE because of the losers and sparkle ponies that get their asses out there only to fry on acid for a week. That is not what the event is supposed to be about, and if you did any research or knew anyone that does know what it’s all about then you would understand a little better. Burning Man IS a very spiritual and rejuvenating journey – if experienced correctly. You know nothing of it.
And as for the comments about the gays and children – it’s really none of anyone’s business. Gays should not have to be crucified at all times because what they do is none of you damn business. AND if people want to take their children out there then who the fuck cares… I know people who were raised going out to BM as children and they’re perfectly fine and model citizens, better than myself even. How can you say it should be illegal? You’re nothing but an idiot. In that case… Taking your kids to Monster Truck Ralleys, letting them ride rollercoasters, and play Grand Theft Auto should also be illegal – simply because they’re potentially dangerous, mentally scarring, and violently suggestive things to do in their free time.

lawl at the people that are saying ‘the only people that go to burning man are poor.’ Have you not actually taken the time to research and calculate how much it is to get there, stay there, survive, etc. Your ticket, is usually in the range of $390-240 unless you qualify for low income tickets which are still $160 remind you this is all PER PERSON.
most people have to rent RVs for said trip, i don’t actually know how much that is since i have never needed to rent one.
the gas to fill said RV and other vehicles to get out there, we all know how much gas is.
Food and water for everyone in your group attending, maybe even some extra just in case, you are stuck in the desert after all.
Theres probably plenty of other costs that go into it that will end up making this a VERY expensive trip, one that someone whom is POOR would not be able to afford.
As for the ‘people running around half naked, it’s disgusting.’ comments, yet again, have you not done your research?? It’s a matter of freedom of expression, there is no judgement at BM, not just that, I’m pretty sure when its 100+ degrees out day in and day out, you don’t want to wear too much clothing. I for one, when it’s scorcing hot surely don’t want to put on clothes.

Look at the crime rate and medical emergencies per capita. It is one of the safest cities in the united states. Dispute it if you wish, the facts are there. I guarantee they were not approached by a stranger and offered drugs. The city is patrolled by uniformed and under cover police as well as drug sniffing k9s both inside the city and out. I won’t even touch the numbers of how much revenue it brings the Nevada economy. I challenge ANYONE who has ANYTHING negative to say about it to go. Instead of spouting on about what you HEARD, have an educated opinion backed by personal experience. As far as the gay thing…. It’s a festival based in art and freedom. alternative lifestyle isn’t that at all, it’s life WITH style and what better place to express it than at a freedom art festival. Yes there are naked people. Everywhere. It’s art. They’re beautiful. and why would we NOT pass these values into our children and what better way than showing them yourself. Burningman is very much an individual experience. Whatever you go there looking for is exactly what you’ll find. Both the good and the bad. But that’s exactly what makes it what it is. Nowhere else on earth can you be exactly who and what you are and be more loved and accepted for it. If u don’t want that then please, stay out. But it’s you who has the most to gain by being there…..
I went to burning man for my first time recently, and I must say that it is not for everyone. The thing about burning man is this: you can have ANY kind of experience you want. the possibilities are literally endless, and if you choose to hang around your RV the whole week complaining about everything you dont agree with, then that is very unfortunate, and burning man is OBVIOUSLY not for you. Personally I think it is the greatest place in existence, and every year for the rest of my life that I am not on the playa will easily be the most depressing week of my life. haha haters gunna hate
Burning man isnt even about doing drugs.ur in a different world for a week.you dont need to be fcked up to enjoy it.and ya crazy shit happens out there..but what do u expect?its a city.people are gonna fight,steal,etc..i mean c’mon its like 60,000 people in the middle of the desert.but in the end playa is the greatest place in the world.people need to open there minds a little more.take the time to appreciate the art,the music,the people,the culture.its a beautiful place.been going for 5 years and will never stop
i guarantee half the people on hear talking shit on burning man have never even been there before.its not about drugs and its not a giant orgy.yes there are those who partake in those activities but its there choice and thats totally fine!your practically in a different world,you dnt need to be totally fcked up to have a good time.and yes there is alot of nudity but who cares!its freedom and its awesome.open your minds,see the art,hear the sounds,make new friends and create different experiences.your experience on the playa is what you make it.its a beautiful place.ive been going for 5 years and will never stop.:)
I totally agree! Everyone should boycott this event. In fact, send your unused tickets to me for “proper disposal”. I would not want to propagate this nonsense in the desert. I will force myself to go to the burn to confirm these lurid acts and file a full report upon my return.
