Monster Energy Drink Kills
THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, have you heard that people are dying from drinking Monster energy drinks? The FDA is investigating multiple deaths in which people are implying that the consuming of Monster has been the reason for someone dying. The most recent was filed last week for the wrongful death of a 14-year old Riverside girl who died after drinking two 24-ounce Monster’s in 24 hours. The FDA is investigating 5 deaths as 1 non fatal heart attack. Monster’s website calls their drink “killer energy brew” and “the meanest energy supplement on the earth”. This makes me sick.

My kid drinks two at a time. I cant stand the stuff, it all smells like Jagerbombs to me. And me and Jagerbombs don’t get along at all. This freaked her out though and she stopped (whew thanks i was sick of gagging)

I’m sorry but this poster is really uneducated. Did you know Starbucks coffee has more caffeine per cup compared to most energy drinks?? Energy drinks are not “good” for you as they are full of artificial ingredients, HOWEVER, they are not lethal!! You would have to drink around 8-10 cans in one HOUR in order to overdose on the caffiene. The 14 year old had a pre existing heart condition, this is why she died. It’s a sad story no matter how you dice it but the parents are looking for a scapegoat. I’m sorry to say that no company can be held responsible for her death.

That 14 year old girl that died was from Hagerstown, MD, not Riverside. The whole point of the lawsuits, etc, are to have these drinks regulated by the FDA. In addition to the caffeine that are in these drinks, there are OTHER ingredients that interact with the caffeine, and are more potent than JUST caffeine. THOSE ingredients aren’t regulated by the FDA, because energy drinks aren’t regulated as drinks, they’re regulated as nutritional supplements, which doesn’t require the listing of ALL ingredients.
My personal feeling is they should be regulated as drinks, so people KNOW what they’re putting in their bodies. Do some research before you judge a teenage girl who didn’t know better. Her heart condition wasn’t life-threatening, and 2 24 oz cans of ANYTHING you can buy in a convenience store shouldn’t have the power to kill you.
We’re not trying to shut them down, just hold them to the same level of regulation that every other food and drink manufacturer is held to…

I work at a convince store. I see kids and teens drinking 4 or 5 a day on top of 5 hour energies. Monster has a drink called m3 it comes in a green glass bottle. Its says on the bottle do not drink more then 1 or 2 a day. On the regular monster i am pretty sure it says the same thing. I am 23 and i dont drink that stuff at all I work 6 days a week 48 hours plus workout a least 2 times a day and dont even touch the stuff. Go old school and take vitamins if they are lacking energy and go to bed at a decent time rather then stay up and play video games.

Read the label. It says DO NOT EXCEED so many ounces per day. If they cant read the label then that’s their problem. That’s why they put warnings on the can. It’s not monsters fault. It’s the dumb a** that can’t read
Everything will eventually kill you if you don’t drink it/eat it in moderation. Instead of blaming the energy drink, blame the people for having no self control when it comes to consumption of products.

You failed to mention that the 14 year old girl had a preexisting heart condition. She must have been knowledgeable enough about her condition to know that chugging back to back energy drinks wasn’t the brightest idea. Disobey medical advice and you could die; what a shocker! there is a reason why there is a warning on the back of a monster that says not to consume 2 of them in a 24 hour period.
