THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, I want to say I’ve never heard of you or your wife before I started watching Couples Therapy. I was just able to watch the episode of you taking Shane on your “day date”. I thought it was very sweet. I honestly think you deserve better. I don’t know how she was raised, but it seems like she thinks everything should revolve around her wants and her needs. She needs to grow the hell up and start appreciating her husband. She seems like a spoiled little b*tch who does nothing but complain and whine. I’m not trying to talk down about your wife or give advise to people I will never know. I just have to say after watching that episode…..walk away!!! You did put alot of effort into trying to get close to her. She did nothing but b*tch the entire time. I have been married for 19 years and it takes two to make it work. I know we don’t see it all, and I’m sure she has great attributes, but come on. I can’t understand why in the world you don’t think you deserve better. She is very attractive but she is sooo shallow it is unreal. I understand you have a kid with her and I’m sure she really is a good mom, but she doesn’t seem to really want you. Look, I hope I haven’t offended you and I really hope the best for you both. Through out all the episodes she has just been a b*tch. I hope if you stay together she gets help. It seems more like borderline behavior to me (which has a lot of similarities to hpd and npd). But, who knows it’s hard to say with that sort of thing, it’s not terribly common, and a lot of times folks with CPTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety disorder show a lot of similar symptoms to the personality disorders. I don’t think this girl is just a brat because she is inherently a bad or bitchy person. I think there is a lot of stuff from her childhood that effects her that we don’t get to see on the show. I do wish they showed more of the therapy! It is waaaaay more interesting than the stupid house drama.

As I was watching this episode, I would have been thinking the same thing, If i hadnt just gotten out of a very difficult 2.5 years relationship. And I knew that many viewers would be thinking the same thing as this poster. I was with someone I thought was the love of my life. I would have episodes like this with him, he would do something nice and all I could do was bitch and complain, exactly like Shayne was here, and in that moment I knew it was wrong, but I couldnt break myself from continuning in this manner. I still dont understand why I acted that way sometimes, but Shayne and I were raised very differently so I wouldnt be so quick to say its because of they way she was raised. Or so quick to say that Nik deserves better, cuz come to the end of my relationship, I realized I was the one that deserved better-THE WHOLE TIME.
Sounds like you didn’t deserve better, you just needed someone else. When someone isn’t happy, they act accordingly. I left my fiance after 6 years together when I finally realized, there was nothing wrong with him, he just wasn’t the one for me.
He deserved someone that recognized all his hard work, and I needed something else. I am much happier now.

I agree shayne comes off as a bitch sometimes, but TV doesn’t always show the reality of the whole situation. They edit shit out to make things look more dramatic to get better ratings.
I can kinda agree with her about the horse back riding date tho. I wouldn’t take someone somewhere they didn’t want to go in the first place and try to force them to enjoy it. Then after knowing I took them on a date doing something they did not want to do, get mad at them for not having a good time. It would have been just as easy to say “OK what would you like to do instead? I just want you to have a good time”. Idk just my opinion, he was kinda a dick about it.

No one knows what is really going on in your marriage. I honestly think you are both really cool people. I get that shayne had just had surgery. I have been in her shoes. I went swimming not long after having had the surgery and the implant fell out while I was on vacation so she really did have a valid point it is important to do exactly what the doctor says even if they say take 6 months -you must follow thru. I hope things have worked out in your marriage as we know these shows are often aired long after they are filmed.
I also want to add It was really refreshing to see all of you stand up to that sad actor ( the pedo- sick sick guy).The childs mother also could do with some serious counselling too.

Shanye is learning how to emotionally open herself up, how to allow nik inside her world. This is something very tough for her. So to others she comes off as a bitch, when really she is just guarded and scared of all her emotions and fears. As for the complaining, thats typical Scorpio behavior. She is not shallow, she is a very deep person i can see honestly, she is guarded, and nik has to learn how to open her up. And communication is key, without getting upset and giving up. You can do this nik, it takes work, but it will be worth it in the end. Nik give her more affection, she is an emotional person. Touch, hugs, kisses calm her. I’m sure you know that. Give her more of that. TINY steps, it doesn’t happen over night. I think most of these people on here, are the type that give up on any kind of real relationship, and probably sleep around a lot. This kind of mentality won’t get you nothing but old and alone. Nik stick with what you got and keep trying. It will be worth it, once you got her open and vulnerable, she will be the sweetest most caring person, like she was made to be.
