I’ve always wondered the same. The place has little to offer beyond the party scene. Fun to visit and indulge I guess, but pathetic to live there… doing the same thing, week, after week, after week.

its funny because I actually live in Huntington Beach and for the life of me I could not figure out what in the world “HB” could possibly stand for if being compared to the other cities listed… but the one thing i knew for sure is that it couldn’t have been Huntington. ha
As for hating on HB, I will be the first to admit that there is some truth to every joke and nik’s joke is no exception. however, I find that hb serves its purpose and during the summer the people watching is second to none. Unlike Newport, HB has miles upon miles of public parking lots and as a result people from all over SoCal choose hb for their weekend beach trips. It is super easy for people to pull up, park and be at the waters edge where in Newport it would take forever to find parking and you have to know the area which most out of towners don’t. While I am sure that anyone in Newport would find this to be an advantage for their city I would have to disagree. If I had a dollar for every time I have been able to pants a chick that I originally met while riding my beach cruiser on the hb board walk while participating in some good old fashioned summer day drinking then I would have at least $12.00 haha. So while you nerds hanging out with your bros at mutts in Newport brag about the newport babes that you never seem to get any action from, I will continue to enjoy boning chicks visiting hb for the day that could be from from riverside or the west side of LA for all i care.
during this years us open (which is the best week of the summer) I met a girl from long beach and literally rode her to my apartment on my handle bars to take some bong rips, hit a home-run and rode her back to the pier where her friends were all within an hour. didn’t even get her number and went back to riding my bike.

I’d have to agree. Main street does bring in trashy people, but there are generally really nice neighborhoods in HB. I too am confused why HB would be comparable to NYC or LA though??? odd….
