It does briefly seem like they are living the dream on the outside. All the cash, clothes, trips.. but remember what they have to do for all of that. Many prostitutes go under the guise of “escorting” and these two are definitely NOT the same.
In some States, escorting is perfectly legal so long as the escort has a license issued by the State (check your State laws) as a “licensed escort” However, just because someone is a licensed escort in one State, does not mean that she can practice escorting in every state. Legitimate and licensed escorts are paid for their time, just like any professional who charges pro rata, i.e, accountants, attorneys, etc.
Prostitution on the other hand (no pun) is an overt exchange of money for sexual acts and it is illegal in the U.S. with the exception of some unincorporated areas in Nevada (illegal in Clark County, LV) In the eyes of the Law, when one pays or receives money directly in exchange for ANY sexual act, that is prostitution.
For instance, you can legally hire a licensed escort to go to movies or to dinner for companionship. You pay her rates and she delivers her company as promised. You issue her a receipt that services were rendered in your satisfaction and she gives you a receipt for the funds which she received from you. There is nothing illegal there as long as there was no sexual act involved during that paid for transaction. Now if the two of you decide to meet two hours later and “bone” each others’ brains out, there is nothing that the law can do as long as $$$ was not involved during sex.
Now we all know that the above story is very far fetched and that it doesn’t happen like I said above in real life, but that is one of the reasons as to why all this SD/SB shenanigans are mostly ignored by Law Enforcement, because it is hard to prove and to prosecute under the guise of prostitution. But when a prostitute advertises for sex business. sits there waiting for “johns” and “donations” while blabbering that she’s getting paid for her time, yada, yada; that situation is subject to being arrested and prosecuted for prostitution.
Finally, we all know that almost 99.9% of claimed “escorts” are just hookers involved in illegal acts, but I just had to make that distinction. So after all the legal mambo jumbo, the question remains if you can morally accept your “career” choice irrespective of its legal ramification.
