The SaraCare Fund

Sara Kennedy after she was crowned Homecoming Queen.
This year I’m really dedicating myself to making a difference. TheDirty.com is a very powerful website and if used correctly WE can make a huge positive change in peoples lives. Creating a cultural shift from dirty to clean through non-censored social awareness has been my battle for almost 6 years. Now I want to add the fight. Last year I learned about The SaraCare Fund:
A memorial fund in honor of Sara Elizabeth Kennedy who with tremendous hope, gracefully fought Rhabdomyosarcoma (an aggressive childhood cancer) from June 16, 2004 until March 23, 2005 when the battle was lost. This fund was established in order to support the work of her wonderful health care providers (Kentucky Children’s Hospital and The Pediatric Oncology Clinic). The SaraCare Fund is also dedicated to providing assistance and comfort to young patients and their families. Sara wanted to make a difference in the lives of families that were experiencing the same difficult trials as she. The first project (initiated by Sara before her death) was to provide remote control televisions with built in vcr/dvd players for all the rooms on Four West of the Children’s Hospital. Within three months of Sara’s passing, this project was completed, made possible through generous gifts from her friends and family. As of May 6, 2006 the SaraCare Fund has provided all of the Kentucky Childrens Hospital’s rooms with televisions. As of 2007 the television project at Kentucky Children’s Hospital is complete. A Wii machine in honor of Hayes Rogers was installed at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital and the Pediatric Hemotology/Oncology Clinic. Also, an art fund was established at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital in honor of Tiffany Cheek. Our mission continues with your support.
This organization really hit home now that I’m a father. I was also compelled by Sara’s strength, heart and willingness to accept her death knowing that her passing had a greater purpose. Today I want to do something to help other kids like Sara who are fighting for their lives in Kentucky. I have personally donated to SaraCare, but I’m one person. I’m asking the DIRTY ARMY to give. Only when you feel like the time is right for you. Generosity inspires hope.- nik

This is the girl Rascal Flatts dedicated the song “Sarah Beth” too in her honor.
God bless. Please let us know what we can further do.

What a wake up call when their are times you think your life are bad someone like Sara appears god bless the entire dirty army
You are a legend Nik, I love that you are posting this
Good to see you contributing to a worthy cause. Hopefully the dirty army will send some financial ammunition to The SaraCare Fund.
Come on Dirty Army, imagine if every person that visits this website donates $10 to $20.
If everyone that visits The Dirty gives $20 imagine the difference that it would make. Come on DA
As someone who survived cancer twice, thank you.
I am a CT bandwagoner but was highly compelled by the segment on Sara. Thank you for doing this. I had every intention of donating, but life kept getting in the way. Heading there now….
I’m proud of you, Nik!! Very, very proud!!!
What a true beauty inside and out. May she rest in peace.
Lost my dad too cancer in 12′. This is a good post. We always see on the news someone that did something wrong. Here is a good example of someone who was brave and did her best too fight these terrible cancers we get. I’ll be donatating for sure!
Thanks Nik
I did my part and I hope everybody else, this is a good cause and out of the post this one hits in the heart..I am glad you have good in you Nik.
Nick you are an amazing person even though you could be very mean sometimes
Thanks for using your popularity and reaching the masses for good. I’m sending in my check tomorrow.

This is the Sara who should be representing ky not that slut Sarah jones. I’ll be donating today, thanks Nik, you are a great person!
I saw this story on Couples Therapy and cried my eyes out. I am a mother of 2 beautiful daughters. I cannot imagine losing them nor having the strength her parents have had…..what wonderful, amazing people. Nick, bless you for using your popularity to help this organization. You have a beautiful family with Shayne and Press. Good luck to you all….
save a girl who’s dying the hosp, destroy a girls self esteem to unrealistic idea of what woman shoul look like… yup makes perfect sense…..
Nik, sending a check but help them set up a PayPal. People are good hearted but lazy and checks are dead. PayPal is usually a few clicks once your accout is set up and I guarantee it will help donations tremendously.
Keep up the good work!
I’m currently trying to have a money order sent because I have no checks, stopped using them years ago.
There’s also a site called indiegogo.com which you can create a campaign to raise money for anything you want. It’s another way to make it easier to collect donations online. I had a friend who was murdered recently, and his family could not afford a funeral.
Someone made a campaign on indiegogo and they were able to raise over $10,000 in a week for the his family: http://www.indiegogo.com/KeithCoffey (the donation time is over, I just wanted to show what it looks like.
R.I.P. Sara Beth and Keith.
Nik only cares about hot girls…I’m a fan and I’ve never seen him give one shred of sympathy to an ugly chick. Just sayin’
Brad, off the court I see clearly.- nik
Thats bullshit
Way to go! Good to see the more positive productive interaction of issues on the site! You have built a popular site and are now a family man. Without giving up the scandalous topics and your website, what about making the site “the dirty” about the politicians and people that are affecting our ability to have these freedoms to speak our minds. As a young generation we just assume it will work itself out. Branch out to the issues so we can continue to have freedoms like the ones you post. Good way to keep doing what u do and evolve.. an idea
Nik, I would like to thank you for posting this. This could make a very big change in people’s lives who are battling cancer. I will be sending my part. When rascal flatts made this song I cried everytime I heard it and I didn’t know this song was made for her. May God be with her family and stay strong.
It’s great that you want to help now. You said you would try and maybe help with my son Tristan too a couple of months ago. I callled into your show and you said maybe. I sent in proof that I really wanted help for a stem cell transfusion and proved that I wasn’t lying about his condition.. I got my hopes up and then nothing ;(. I literally went from ok we are moving forward to get help for you to nothing. no emails no calls no nothing. i.really hope your helping people that need help too. A little bitter yes… But mostly frustrated bc you seemed like a potential answer to our prayers in the sense of trying to figure out how to help the monumental medical costs we have incurred trying to help our son. I am static for others but can’t help wish for great things for my son.
I have to agree with the negative comments on this one. While it is honestly quite shocking that you took the time to post something in order to make a difference, you have spent your life creating ugly in the world. You spend your time and energy promoting ripping others apart, from the way they look to the way they behave. (People you don’t even know) Not only that but you facilitate a website where others can do the same. You can’t play saint and sinner in the same place. You want to REALLY make a difference? Take down this site. Use your name and image to create a positive place in the world. You speak of having a daughter. What are you going to do the day someone creates a site specifically for the purpose of tearing her apart? And you can’t even begin to say that someone won’t after the countless people who have had their reputations destroyed because of this site. You want to protect her? Be the kind of dad that promotes things like this cause and people aren’t shocked to hear that you’re doing so. Just saying.
Wow she was beautiful.
This was one positive post out of hundreds and some of u commenters are determined to ruin it by leaving nasty comments to Nik when he’s only helping to spread awareness for a great cause.
