Before flipping the bird, she was immature and disrespectful, absolutely. But her bad attitude is hardly a criminal act.
Watching the video, it appears she was initially fined $5K, as expected per the count for possession. When the judge said “bye”, she responded “adios”. This obviously means “bye” in Spanish, which appears to be the judge’s native language. I didn’t notice her give him the middle finger at this time. The judge didn’t like her “bad attitude” so he doubled her fine.
That’s an unjustified use of power.
She felt the doubling of her fine was too harsh (sorry, I kind of have to agree), so she flipped him off. This, I agree, is reason for additional punishment. But her bad attitude prior to the middle finger episode shouldn’t warrant her fine being doubled. It’s her right to be a rude bitch… Just like it’s Nik’s right…

Prior to the bond being raised (thanks bkay, my typo), she was simply being immature. She wasn’t chewing the judge out.
Being immature is her right, freedom of speech… the 1st amendment. Even in the court, we reserve this right. Her flipping the bird was contemptuous, but her being immature before that was not.
I’m not saying it’s exemplary, just that it’s not criminal… and in my opinion, should not warrant the bond doubling.
I get it, you all want to teach her a lesson. The ultimate goal is to motivate this girl to be a better person when she gets out. She’s obviously addicted to pills, and I doubt this experience will do anything more than enforce her hatred for the justice system.

The judges job is to deliver justice, not to teach people moral lessons. That’s her parents’ job, and obviously they have failed. But again, that’s not criminal.

I went through this in middle school myself. My mother would literally drag me by my hair to the car every day, molly whoppin me the whole way out. All that us parents can do these days is take everything not nailed down out of the bedroom. I don’t want to beat my kids the way my parents went at me, I would like them to fear that momma WILL bring the noise.

She doesn’t have a lawyer present. That’s wrong. No one should ever be in front of a Judge with out legal council.
She has a court appointed legal representative, that would be the person who is arguing how many counts she has and how its unjust & arguing her bail and being ROR-ed.

I work in this courthouse. The judge and lawyer are in one room together, the people who are awaiting bond in their jumpsuits are across the street in the jail. Everything happens over TVs with microphones so the client can see the attorney and the judge, and the judge and the attorney sees the client.
