THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, I’ve always wonder about rich people and how they tip. For the most part, I’m broke as hell but always tip 20% at the least. Come to find out Billionaire Mark Zuckerburg is a cheap ass when it comes to tipping and even complained about a $5 soda that was on his tab at the Ritz in Hawaii until it was removed off of his tab. I can’t believe someone worth billions would be such a cheap ass.

Just because someone has money doesn’t mean that they should still have to pay for things that they didn’t order or get. If your a billionaire and you’re eating chili’s 18-20% is still fine they don’t need to tip $200 because they can..

That $5 coke he fought was probably the result of traps hotels like to set in their minibars. If you even accidentally bump anything in it, you pay for it. I fought that charge too. It was the principle of the whole thing. I always tell people to not even get curious and look inside the minibar unless they’re prepared to buy whatever they touched. That shouldn’t even be legal, its a trap in my opinion.

I don’t understand this tendency among the ultra wealthy either. Granted, much of their wealth may be attributed to their frugal spending, a 20% tip probably does more good than harm…especially where reputation is involved.
In contrast, love hearing about guys like Ben Affleck and Dana White who pay people’s rent in one sitting.

I’m sick of lazy restaurant staff demanding 20% tips. Why the hell should we, on top of the food that we actually pay for, have to pay an additional 20% to the the stupid skanks who do nothing but take our orders and clear our tables (and still manage to f*ck things up).
Tipping is the stupidest custom ever, and nowhere else in the world do people tip as liberally. In europe, tipping is unheard of and if you ask me they have it right.

I used to work with a bunch of these babies in Las Vegas where they griped about how awful Canadians, Brits…etc where while they pulled down $80k for working 30 hrs a week. As if their magical ‘waiting’ talents were so valuable everyone should just open up their wallet for them without question
