Losing Fans Because of Christina Brito
THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik I used to be such a fan of the Tejano band Grupo Vida – mostly because of Art Tigerina’s amazing vocals,his love for family and the values he always talks about. Over the last year that has ALL changed. A little over a year ago he started seeing Christina Brito from Lubbock, TX- while he was married. 6 months into their relationship, his wife finds out and kicks him out. He is still not officially divorced but has been living with Christina for almost a year. The main issue, besides the fact that she was seeing him while he was married, but she has changed him completely, as a person and as a performer. When she goes to his shows, which is often, she sits in a chair and watches him .. and monitors any fan interaction he has- I’m sure it’s because she was once a “fan” that stole him from his wife – Insecure???. As a performer … that’s his JOB. He performs, gets off stage and goes straight to her. Like a coward. If he does talk to a fan she just glares, and I’m sure he hears it when they get me. Little does she know, Im friends with some of the other band members and their families … none of them like her, their relationship or the image she is bringing to the band. Since he moved to Austin, Art doesn’t show up to practice before shows as he’s working as a mechanic on the side so he can pay child support and still have money to give her and her 4 kids. The band has mentioned the issues and loss of fans to Art before but they feel like he is an important part of the group so they aren’t really saying much anymore. Too bad they’ll end up breaking up I’m sure, like most bands, over some dumb groupie girl.

It’s unfortunate to see this on here but it’s true. I was at a show not too long ago and witnessed this. Arts girlfriend is rude and doesn’t know how to have a good time. She’s soo fake around the fans. I said hi to Art after a show while he was standing by her and he just gave me a half smile, while she gave me a dirty look. REALLY!! Later that night, she almost got in a fight with another girl and got a beer dumped on her. This is not the image Grupo Vida has carried in the past and its all her.
No one loses fans because of personal lives. Thts not a real fan. This band like all bands all have their personal lives to live- fans stay for the music- nothing else. He is a great performer, does what hes paid for. He doesnt owe anyone anything else. Just saw them both and both were very friendly people. True fans don’t care about the haters. Grow up.

Why pick on him? He was on his way out his marriage when they met. I’ve been all their friends for years- he’s happy and lost all that fat. Besides. The whole band cheats. Jason and his Midland chicks (like Claire), I havent seen Manny start in Midland, but I hear hes already started in other cities, and Mike is too close to the smaller Melissa. Art’s eyes wander, but we see that he’s happier than ever. He’s also healthier than ever. His girlfriend (fiance) and him deserve happiness. Thats all.

I’m a musician of 30+ years and know ive made my mistakes but damnable we work hard. The biggestmistake was putting my personal life 2nd to fairweather people. You’ll never make everyone happy. You’re obligated to God and those that love and support you day in day out at home. I know Art from the gearhead side. We’ve loved cars longer than music. Hes a hellofa mechanic and musician. In my day we didn’t have this bs. But my wife (who I met on the road too) suffered as well. Public thinks our failed marriages and divorces are their business. Its not. Don’t live worrying about “fans you lose” they were never fans. worry about love you may lose. Your music your band your talent will endure it because you’re respectable and human. Be grateful you’ve found someone who can change a musicians attitude for the better. Much respect to this group and Art. Its been too long. Hope to see EC soon.
Sad to see this post about Art Art is a nice person with a good heart, maybe he does love her but seems like he went about the wrong way of doing things. I’m sure he was at a time of vulnerability having problems with his wife but I don’t think Christina was or is the “answer” It’s called temptation. My point was in no relation to Art or his past relationship. Obviously, it affected his “fans”. He has since made a change and its over with. However, bandmembers who are being accused of being unfaithful should not affect anyone in any way. You do not own them and they do not owe you anything. They are there to perform, take pictures, and sign as you said. A bandmember leaving his wife is rightfully entitled to do so if it makes him happy. They do not dictate your lives and you should not try to dictate theirs. If it offends anyone due to their alledged unfaithfulness, then do not continue to support them and go elsewhere. If not, then get over it. As I said before, I could care less who is cheating on who, or who’s leaving who. My concern is my life, my family, my own happiness, and my own business.
