THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, I have a 4 year old child and I’m starting to worry about her education and what kinda of people will be teaching her. I always hear stories about bad teachers and it does worry me. Just like first-year Overland High math teacher Carly McKinney, who became an instant star after her now-deleted CarlyCrunkBear Twitter account, featuring flirty pics and dope-joke tweets, was discovered by a local TV station. She’s now been suspended much to the chagrin of many students and an online community united under the hashtag #FreeCrunkBear. I mean you are teaching 1st graders and acting like this? Seems like those children weren’t learning anything in her class besides how to tweet. Sick to my stomach.

I remember when I was a kid you could find bottles of booze in several teachers desks if you bothered to look. So they were indeed drinking at work, doesn’t seem like she was smoking pot at work here, and if I had to choose one or the other, I think someone on pot is far less likely to do something harmful to one of their students then someone drunk on hard liquor. Not to mention that they had such a drinking problem that they needed to have it with them at school.
Who cares what she does on her personal time. She was hired by the education system for a reason. That is like saying Nik is a douche bag to woman so he is going to treat his daughter like he treats all other woman.
If you post photos of yourself doing drugs, getting drunk, in the buff- then you should expect to get fired, keep your social life to yourself- the world doesn’t need to know, or think your cool

They don’t. I’ve been a teacher in Vegas and they didn’t drug test. I’ve also done marketing for a casino and they did drug test. Always thought that was weird

Home school, charter school, or private school your child — none of this crap happens there, no scummy teachers, no school shootings, no gangs of brown-skinned criminals none of it.

This was in Colorado and should be filed under Denver. Pot is legal here for both medical and recreational use. Cannabis is way safer than alcohol! This isn’t any worse than a teacher posting a picture next to a glass of wine.
Obviously she was hired for a reason. If she wants to have fun on her own time, people shouldn’t track her down and swap her pictures all over to get her fired.

We are all entitled to do what we want on our own time but some people go overboard with posting their lives on social media. When you’re in a profession like hers you have to make sure your personal life stays separate from your job. I don’t mind her smoking weed and taking half naked pics of herself but for the love of god stop posting them all over the place like an attention starved 14 year old.

If you didn’t already know the things you learned in High School, or couldn’t have found them out any other way – let’s be honest, you were already doomed. What your teacher does with her personal life is irrelevant, and why people take High School as a “serious learning institution” is well beyond me. It’s basically extended daycare.
Actually, my daughter earns college credits in certain courses in HS. She’s almost out of school and very close to her associates already. Since she will be going for about 6 years this is good. College is so expensive, its nice to get some prereqs out of the way before we have to pay for it.
And, this is a HS in a teeny little farming town. They’re not advanced daycares anymore.
