THE DIRTY ARMY: Wow, I really cannot believe the number of submissions for Hamilton lately. Now, I don’t know any of these people who are posted, and I am from here, but it is pretty obvious that most of these posts are by the same GIRL (definitely not a woman). Every post has the same spelling errors and consistency. Now, you are trashing these people (yes, I am sure they deserve it) but I am starting to wonder when YOU will be posted? You seem to know and hang out with the most sketchy people in Hamilton. You are probably just as dirty and disgusting as the last person you posted. But in general, it’s really not THAT bad here. In fact, we do have a lot of educated, pretty girls and good looking men. But, it seems you are not, and do not know any of them. Although, I do enjoy seeing the ‘rappers’being put on blast because it seems every third project home in Hamilton has one. Just wanted to put my two cents in there. DA STRONG!

I live and have lived down the mountain all my life when i go up the mountain i still get lost. You live in a first world country and think a city is worthy of “undeveloped?” You drink clean water, eat food free of parasites and bacteria, and yet you’d spit on all of this? Not sure what part of town you’re referring to with dirty diapers, garbage along the roads, etc., but it certainly isn’t like that in the area where I live. Downtown Core or North End perhaps? If so, I haven’t seen anything quite that bad down there but do agree with the crackheads, etc. Sad. However, it can also be said that there are indeed educated (not to mention level headed and drama free) people here. I happen to be one of them. SO to say or insinuate that everyone in Hamilton is uneducated or scum is nothing short of ignorant stereotyping on your part.

Get your facts straight before you write, Hamilton has been deemed as one of the top citlies in all of canada to invest in. If you have any intellegence youd realize the significance of that. All downtown areas have homeless, prostitutes and so on. If you are close to a single person posted on here personally, there’s a good chance you belong on here too! Hamilton is a large city so to sit there and make opinions over what downtown and Barton Street. I don’t know where you lived when you were here but it was quite obviously the “ghetto” part of Hamilton……guess what there is ghetto is every city. Toronto has all of that plus some. And there are homeless people everywhere. Some of those people have a concurrent disorder that hasn’t been properly addressed. Wow I am a 26 year old Female highschool an college graduate born an raised in this city. It really is sad to see this is how ppl see our city.
As much as Hamilton has its issues, it is the city ITSELF that is to blame, not the people living in it. The city does f*ck all to clean itself up (particularly in the North & East End). The contrast between the North and East end in Hamilton to the Mountain and Ancaster are stark. You go from million dollar houses to slums in a short distance. It is pretty sad when a developed nation such as Canada exhibits the same contrasts between rich and poor that a nation such as India does. Working with at-risk youth in the downtown area, this type of lifestyle is the only thing they know. More programs need to be funded by the city to help break the cycle– but this is still severely lacking. Until Canada steps up to help its poor, this lifestyle many individuals are living will persist.
However, I do agree that there are people in Hamilton that seriously need a wake-up call, but the people posting on this site are no better than the people posted on this site (including those that run this site– I mean, c’mon guys). This website is full of immature bullsh*t– people blasting others for their promiscuity and lifestyles. Who cares? Every city in the world has its poorer areas, where crime, drugs and prostitution exist rapidly.
Also, assuming that all people in Hamilton are the same is idiotic and ignorant. That isn’t true what so ever about every corner has a hooker and every street has dirty diapers and cigarette butts, between Gage and around Parkdale, from Melvin to King, is pretty damn decent looking compared to downtown King and James area, once you hit Sherman, yea there is hookers, garbage, and bums sleeping everywhere. You can’t say a whole city is bad, because of bad neighbourhoods, every single city in the world has a few, did people who commented on this remember about the mountain or no? When you travel up the mountain, you can see the difference, even in the people, I cannot remember ever once in my life seeing a bum on the mountain, I don’t think there is any because they all travel downtown to where all the shelters and help is! I’ve lived in Hamilton my entire life, every place I have lived in the city was awesome, till I moved to Sherman, lets just say I moved very quickly.

Actually Hamilton has one of the best hospitals and university, Macmaster! Thousands of people come from their countries to attend this university. Just because the smart intelligent ones aren’t all over walking the street does NOT mean they don’t exist.
I have lived in Hamilton for 27 of my 35 years. I graduated from highschool and college in this city. I met my husband here, had my children here and will continue to raise them HERE! I have known a lot of people that have left here and 98% of them have come back because they have said there is no place like home. I love the history here, I love the diversity here and even though they can’t win to save their lives i love the tiger cats!!!… I will always be hamilton proud <3

Instead of slamming these people on the website and saying they make Hamilton a horrid place, why not help out. If H-town is your city then help out in the community. Sometime all someone needs is a helping hand. There are a lot of programs for teen mothers to finish school, and to find meaningful work. I have many friends who are mothers in Hamilton who all have finished school, have jobs and keep their legs closed.
Maybe if we all reach out some of these children will grow up to be well rounded indivuals, talking shit about their mother’s ain’t helping anyone.

That has nothing to do with the city. The reason that we have a lot of lower income people/ families is because the rents are lower than in surrounding areas. A thousand dollars is much easier to live off of in Hamilton than it is in Burlington or Ancaster.

Hamilton is disguisting. I am from Hamilton and any memory I have living there involves crack, escorts, pimps, drug dealers, crackheads, bums, people fighting stabbing and killing each other for illegitimate reasons. Fortunately, I am in university now but to say all of Hamilton is a nice place to live is completely out of context. Like the other guy said, it goes from million dollar homes to slum within a km. Agreed…It does need serious work, as you said. Hamilton is one of the poorest cities in Canada, unfortunately. And don’t even get me started on the terrible road conditions; potholes everywhere! However, as with anything, it is what you make it. Stay on the mountain–not perfect but better than living in “the pit”.

I love this city. I am posted on here and certainly don’t deserve to be. I agree that if you were to post on here it shouldn’t be anonymous. There is one “girl” who has added a ton people, including myself and yet I have never met her a day in my life. She posted me because she has problems with people I am aquatinted with. Of course there are some girls posted that clearly are “dirty” but what makes the poster who remains anonymous any better than who they are bashing? I have faith this site will be taken down. I admit at first it was amusing but after it happened to myself and others who I know, I realized how pathetic it was getting and how easy it is just to bash someone with little to no truth behind your statements. I do fall under the statistics of being a teen mother. But I only collected Welfare for 3 months in between jobs. I live in Oshawa and we’ve always had the same sort of rep as Hamilton but the thing is the scummy part of Oshawa or “the dirty shwa” is only the south end. Everywhere north of highway 2 is nice but that small part of our city ruins our entire reputation. Every city and town has its bad areas and scummy people. You can’t let a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch.

I am a 21 year old female have graduated college and plan to go again. I have a well paying job and no kids or “baby fathers”. I take offense to people saying that the girls are all scum. Most of them downtown yeah but that’s because of bad parenting and them becoming a victim of their environment there’s too many broken homes these days and the men around here aren’t men at all . There all little boys thinking theyre “hard or ballers” when really they just didn’t get an education. I have seen every part of this city and what it has to offer and frankly I feel bad for the hookers, drug addicts and teen parents. Some of these kids grew up with no hopes, dreams or aspirations and that needs to change. But as a whole Hamilton isn’t bad at all it just depends if you only focus on the negatives I know a lot of successful people and slummy people and it depends on what road they chose in life you can’t shit on everyone else because they chose a path that you can’t understand.

I have lived in Hamilton my whole life in a GREAT area on the east mountain, and the only time i see skanky girls, crackheads and bums are when i go downtown. Its shit like this that makes the city of Hamilton look bad when not all of it is. Know your facts before you post.
I came here from Toronto. Felt I needed a smaller more homey place to live. I found it here. Neighbours friendly. Get service in the stores. Nice places to dine out and shop. Most times get a seat on the bus. Great medical need it. You people complain about here I have a suggestion. Go somewhere else then.
It really is the ppl here that make it trashy. Hamilton used to be a great place to live 15 years ago.
