THE DIRTY ARMY: Hey Nik, I disagree with you about tattoos looking bad on females, some of us have really nice ones. HOWEVER, I just don’t understand some women… like what the f*ck are they thinking when they get pretty much every inch of their bodies covered? A good example is with Cheryl Cole. She’s a beautiful women and I could deal with the few tattoos she already had, like the one on her hand but then it all just got ridiculous. She has one that wraps around her thigh, one on her ass and most recently she got two huge roses on her lower back… its just way too much. Another example is with Rihanna, her weird foot, hand and under the boobs tattoo are just distracting people away from her natural beauty. I don’t understand how these women don’t know the limit, when enough is enough. Do you think it has anything to do with men issues? Cheryl got cheated on like five times by her ex husband and Rihanna, well we all know her pathetic story. I was just wondering, maybe women like them get an abundance of tattoos for a confidence boost or something? Almost as if the overload of tattoos will make them more attractive, more self worthy or whatever else…or the tattoos somehow make up for all the shit they have been through by the “men that love them”. I just have a hard time believing that they actually think all of this looks good. I’m not trying to be a bitch, like I said they are both beautiful women but I just don’t get it. Does having fame make it “cool” and “edgy” to brand yourself like a drawing board?

I have no issues with tattoos if they actually have some sort of sentimental value or meaning to them. Stuff like little stars, cutesy skulls, misspelled French nonsense, Hello Kitty, video games, Disney stuff, My Little pony stuff is just stupid.

I thought tattoos were supposed to have some sort of meaning…but there has been a trend of getting retarded ass tattoos that don’t mean sh*t. Like stars on hips or shoulders, or hummingbirds behind ears, or butterflies. (Butterfly tattoos really piss me off, because it’s like why get a butterfly when you can just have “I am not the least bit original” instead?) Rihanna’s tattoos seem pointless and more like impulse tattoos. Obviously she didn’t put a lot of thought into them, she just needed to have a tattoo for some reason. I have no idea who Cheryl Cole is, but those “roses” look like a large bloody wound.
Well my butterflies have sentimental value. My mom was close to death, dying of Pancreatic Cancer, she swore she’d send butterflies so we’d know she ‘passed over’ Well I got my butterfly at 2am sitting on the patio. I’ve never seen butterflies at that time of day before or after. It let me hold it and everything. I went in and off it went. I bullshit you not. Not everyone’s are trendy.
I agree. All of my tattoos have sentimental meaning for me. I have a butterfly tattoo I got to honor my grandmother, along with a red rose (her fav flower). I have a tattoo of my husband & my birth flower entwined together, one of my daughter’s birth flower, my grandmother’s birth flower & also an infinity symbol. I got all 6 of my tattoos to please myself & no one else. I quit worrying about what other people think of me a long time ago. If people like my ink that’s ok, if not, F*k them, I didn’t do it to look cool or draw attention or shock people. I did it for no one but me. If you see them & like them great if not, no biggie, it won’t hurt my feelings at all.
I actually like how the roses make her waist look smaller.. I hate her thigh tattoos with a passion though

Nik, well said. This goes for men, too. I recently posted on my facebook about how I, a female, am not attracted to overly-tattooed bodies and a friend of mine who is all tatted up flipped out. He wrote a long ass post on his facebook explaining the meaning of tattoos and how he hates that society negatively judges people with tattoos. He even writes that such people are narrow-minded. Yet, he’s the one constantly posting pictures of himself working out at the gym and pictures of his tattoo sessions. No sh!t people are going to look at you and judge you especially with you posting pictures of yourself trying to look “sexy”. I know his post is directed to me and when I confronted him, he denied it. Not to be conceited, but I think he’s just bitter that I never went out on a date with him and now he believes his tattoos were the reason why, which is NOT the reason why. Regardless, I agree with you that overly-tattooed bodies are NOT attractive.
So how is getting a tattoo for attention different than getting plus 2′s for attention?

I have a few small meaningful tattoos. Personally I wouldn’t get large pieces but that’s just personal preference. To each his own. I think the tattoos on the women above look better than the giant ballon boobs and overly inflated asses I’ve been seeing pics of on here lately. I don’t get the big deal though. If you don’t like them don’t get them or date people with them. Easy enough. I don’t see how it has anything to do with self esteem and attention though. That’s a stretch. I’m a rockabilly pin up model with great Itg and long blonde hair. And I am covered in tattoos. I got them because I saw them as pieces of art and they explain my interests and who I am. I get that you have a bias towards tattoos, but how is the attention received from them any different than attention received from fake tits etc?
