THE DIRTY ARMY: Nik, I haven’t really heard you comment on the Rutgers case. Dharun Ravi was found guilty last week of 15 counts of privacy invasion, investigation tampering and bias intimidation. Ravi now faces 10 years in prison. This case is a perfect example of how facebook and twitter are murderers and you get all the bad rap. They played a huge role in Tyler Clementi’s death. Ravi tweeted about Clemetni sexcapades with a an older guy and recorded them making out on webcam. Clementi killed himself shortly after. Ravi just did an interview on 20/20 and said “I won’t ever get up there and tell the world I hated Tyler because he was gay, or tell the world I was trying to hurt or intimidate him because it’s not true.” So you don’t think recording his private moments with intent to stream it live for the world to see wasn’t going to hurt him? Seriously what the f*ck is wrong with his kid?! At the same time, I am not saying I blame Ravi for Clementi’s death. I am very sympathetic to what he went through with this Ravi douchebag, but thousands of people get exposed on thedirty.com everyday, and don’t go kill themselves. I do believe Ravi was the ‘face’ of this bullying craze we’re going through right now. I agree with the decision that Ravi wasn’t charged with causing Clementi’s death. Just wanted to know your opinion on the case. DA STRONG!
I think Ravi hired the wrong lawyers. He needed to take the stand and humanize himself. Also, living in the same room as someone doesn’t grant PRIVACY in my mind.- nik
