Abraham Anhang: A Man who ruined his son’s marriage and life

THE DIRTY ARMY: Abraham Anhang, a disbarred Winnipeg lawyer, managed to ruin his son’s marriage, possibly resulting with his son’s murder 13 years ago. The son’s wife is now on trial in the U.S., after another man has been wrongly convicted (and now released) in this high profile case. Abraham, a traditional Jew who is now a retired real estate developer, raised his son Adam in River Heights, Winnipeg. The son grew up to become the founder of a successful internet gambling company, with suspected connections to the mob. The son also loved the good life, and fell for a beauty queen from Puerto Rico. They got married after she has willingly signed a prenuptial agreement, and they seemed happy together. But Abraham was never happy for them.

In fact, he hated his son’s wife for not being of the Jewish faith, and was obsessed with the idea that this woman is with his son only for the money. Abraham has then put a lot of pressure on his son, and the son eventually petitioned for divorce without really wanting to. Shortly after, the son was murdered, and while it certainly looked like a violent robbery, Abraham kept on blaming – for years now- the son’s wife. Since then, regardless of evidence indicating that the woman loved his son and was herself a victim of that violent robbery, the hateful Abraham is on a holy mission to destroy her life. In order to do so, Abraham hired an army of private detectives and lawyers to harass this simple woman (and her family), take away any (little) money she ever had, and blame the murder on her (even if the FBI is of a different opinion). The outcome of the woman’s (now pending) trial remains to be seen. Regardless, it is so sad to see how this controlling and paranoid father managed to ruin his son’s marriage and life, and even more so how he afterwards turned against all those that the son actually loved in his life. Too late now, but if only someone would have taught Abraham, when he himself grew up, that faith should not matter when two are in love, and that money is no more than dirty paper…
