Beware of Russ Wyatt, the drunken and addict member of Winnipeg’s city council
THE DIRTY ARMY: Russ Wyatt is a member of Winnipeg’s city council since 2002. He has just now returned to work from an extended leave, lasting no less than 79 days and fully paid by the city. Wyatt spent this time battling years long alcohol and substance abuse. He has done so comfortably in an expensive and private rehab facility in Gimli, outside the city. Not too many people still remember, but on 2013, the corrupt former mayor of Winnipeg, Sam Katz, as well as his friend and appointee to the position of the city’s CEO, the crooked Phil Sheegl, were correctly criticized by city council, external auditors, and the media and public, who all lost any trust in them. Katz and Sheegl have been criticized for cost overruns, kickbacks and favouritism- all along the process of building the new police headquarter and three new fire halls. These matters are now still under full blown investigation by the RCMP. However, Russ Wyatt ignored all this genuine criticism and calls for Katz’s resignation, and instead he held tight to his sit with the mayor’s municipal cabinet. In fact, Wyatt was then even promoted within the cabinet to a position of secretary of economic development… No surprise that Sam Katz and Phil Sheegl got away so far with their repeated crimes against the tax payers, if taking to account that someone like Russ Wyatt, a drunken and an addict, was there at those crucial times expected to act as ‘watch dog’ for the hard working citizens of Winnipeg. Actually, the strong rumors that I have heard and believe, are that Russ Wyatt was a regular in a restaurant owned by Sam Katz, and that his large booze bill there was somehow always taken care of. Moreover, if by other such information the city police chief was ordered, by Sam Katz, and complied, not to press charges against Wyatt and to hush at least one incident whereby Wyatt was pulled over for driving under the influence. We all, I am sure, wishing you Russ Wyatt much success with overcoming your serious personal issues. Having said this, if you were drunk and high when millions of taxpayers money were stolen by Katz and Sheegl and transferred to Scottsdale, Arizona, then you are negligent and incompetent. And if it happened at the very few times of when you might have been fully sober, then this makes you an accessory. This way or another, you do not deserve the warm welcome that you somehow received at city hall when currently returning from this luxury rehab, and I suggest you save yourself any further embarrassment and avoid, like your friend Sam Katz, putting yourself to any re-election in the future!
