No Justice for Codi “Geno” Joyce

No Justice for Codi “Geno” Joyce

THE DIRTY ARMY:  My son Codi Joyce was murdered at a house party in Munhall, PA (just outside of Pittsburgh) on September 27, 2015, at the age of 23 years old. There were approximately 25 to 30 people at the party. We have known since day one, the individuals involved in the brutal beating and murder of my son, yet to this date not a single arrests has been made. As you can imagine, it is hard enough to lose a child – the pain and heartache are unfathomable to those that have never had to deal with such a loss. However, the circumstances surrounding his death have added another dimension of pain to this hurtful tragedy.

From the beginning, we have had very minimal discussions with the homicide detectives, local and county law enforcement, and medical personnel. Answers to questions were extremely vague and lacked substance. County detectives and the Assistant District Attorney have been rude, uncaring, intimidating, and have shown a complete lack of compassion towards our family’s loss. They have valued my son’s life as if it didn’t matter. They have treated my son as if he were the criminal in this case and had him at fault from the very beginning. It has been undeniably traumatic to say the least. To this date, a county detective visited with Codi’s mom one time. She and I have had one meeting with the Assistant District Attorney – Mr. Kevin Chernosky. Not one meeting has taken place with the Allegheny County District Attorney – Mr. Stephen Zappala, nor has there been any contact. Throughout the entire meeting with Mr. Chernosky, he spent over two hours defending the acts of the criminals. He flat out lied to me concerning an individual’s involvement in the murder.

Despite overwhelming evidence, to include a confession, they refuse to bring the case in front of a grand jury or refuse to bring any charges whatsoever against the perpetrators. In what should have been an open and closed case, the investigation, in our opinion, has been conducted in an extremely poor and completely unprofessional manner. Lack of evidence seized – physical and digital, the house was not made a crime scene, lack of interviews, etc. Our family feels very strongly that someone in the county is covering for one or more of the murderers. That is the only thing that would make sense as to why our family has been treated this way and why nothing is being done to bring justice for my son. The family has reached out to the State Attorney General, the FBI, and various Senators. We continue to hit a brick wall because nobody seems to want to help. Until the Allegheny County officials decide to move forward with trying this case, we are helpless in the course of bringing justice for my son’s murder. As a United States Air Force Veteran and a proud citizen of this country, I could have never imagined someone who has lost their child to violent crime would ever be treated the way my family has been treated. I have lost complete faith in the process of our justice system and those that can control the investigation at will with seemingly no oversight. I am pleading for your help with our case. We need national exposure for this case and someone that can uncover how the case has been so mishandled. Someone who will bring justice for my son’s murder. I have over sixty pages of letters written to Mr. Chernosky, containing information about my son’s murder – text messages from individuals who attended the party, names, a confession, descriptions of how my son was murdered, etc. I would be more than happy to share all of the information our family has compiled. I sincerely hope to hear back from you and want to thank you for your time. Please contact me any time to discuss. Thank you. Sincerely, John J. Joyce Mobile: 513-872-9857

A civil lawsuit against the individuals is something you should consider. Plus a civil lawsuit against DA’s office and Police department for miss handling the murder of your beloved son. I hope you get the justice Gino deserves.

I say go to civil court. OJ got past criminal court but he was nailed in civil court. Sue the families of the young men involved. God bless y’all. Just watched this on Breaking Homicide and it was unbelievable what the D.A. and Ass’t. is getting away with. Contact the “Cold Justice” folks as well and see if they can help y’all.

    Praying for Justice for Codi…
The Police, DA, the people present at the party should all be ashamed of themselves… do the right thing, speak up… if you feel guilty for not doing the right thing,- you know it was wrong for Codi to be attacked by 4 others!
    Shame on you!

Police should be fired along with DA and charges filed for a cover up.

I just watched this story on Breaking Homicide and am in total disbelief about this case. I cannot believe that no one has been charged at all in this case. Everyone in the DA office, the detectives or the police department must have any children, because how could a parent look at this case and want nothing but justice. My heart goes out to the family. Please continue to fight and shame on your local law enforcement.

Good morning, I saw your story today on breaking homicide. I too am a mother that lost her son. I certainly know the anguish and sorrow that the loss has caused you and your wife. I also saw where your wife passed away this year I am sorry for your loss. I know you are frustrated terribly with an activity of the officials in your county and your city and your state. I wish you luck I’m getting some assistance and bringing these boys to Justice as they should be. Bless you, Jerry Thompson

regardless who started this fight, it took 3 BOYS Sissys (I SAY BOYS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIGHT 1 ON 1). you killed someone. how can you or your family live with this. what reason is the county not investigating this? Is someone trying to protect their family member? (Most likely). Be a MAN instead of a boy hiding behind his family and fess up for your crime. If someone did this to your child you would want justice. Remember CARMA is a bitch!!!!

one of the biggest thiefs/herion junkie/wanna be gangster ive ever met. always pulled knives on people to rob them at partys he would invite himself too.. he was known for it around town…if theres 30 people at a party and not one single person said he wasn’t the aggressor.. can’t be pulling knives on young girls carrying purses … this mother needs to hear the truth as hard as it may be. 30 people all saying it was him…hmmmm.

    • CarrieJune 20, 2019 at 10:48 PM

His system was clean of all drugs, so something doesn’t add up.

    • AnonymousJune 19, 2019 at 5:15 PM

If he was a heroin junkie as you claim, why did his toxicology results come back clean?

    • DNJune 18, 2019 at 4:27 PM

So if you were there how come you wouldn’t come out and make yourself publicly known and give your side of the story? Probably a random troll!

When you have a sworn officer of Law Enforcement that even says they’re covering it up it sounds to me line one of theses wimps who couldn’t fight their own battle probably has their parents as friends with the D.A’s office and that’s why things won’t move forward.

I think the family should file a civil suit and subpoena the D.A. and get him/her under oath because the truth will come out and they’ll have to do something.

Maybe the DA is a crappy person and saving this for their next reelection bid trial before the campaign starts so they can get a convinction and a subsequent reelection.

    • AMotherOfMenJune 17, 2019 at 7:35 PM

Hmmm, a junkie so you say….toxicology report determined NO DRUGS! Hmm don’t know a clean junkie. Tell the truth! Stop being a coward!

    • .November 16, 2018 at 6:55 AM

A junkie with no drugs found in his system..hmm interesting. You probably were involved. Does making lies up make you feel better about what happened?

    • No you weren’tJune 2, 2018 at 5:15 PM

They have evidence you don’t know about. I bet you’re on the suspect list.
