No Justice for Codi “Geno” Joyce
THE DIRTY ARMY: My son Codi Joyce was murdered at a house party in Munhall, PA (just outside of Pittsburgh) on September 27, 2015, at the age of 23 years old. There were approximately 25 to 30 people at the party. We have known since day one, the individuals involved in the brutal beating and murder of my son, yet to this date not a single arrests has been made. As you can imagine, it is hard enough to lose a child – the pain and heartache are unfathomable to those that have never had to deal with such a loss. However, the circumstances surrounding his death have added another dimension of pain to this hurtful tragedy.
From the beginning, we have had very minimal discussions with the homicide detectives, local and county law enforcement, and medical personnel. Answers to questions were extremely vague and lacked substance. County detectives and the Assistant District Attorney have been rude, uncaring, intimidating, and have shown a complete lack of compassion towards our family’s loss. They have valued my son’s life as if it didn’t matter. They have treated my son as if he were the criminal in this case and had him at fault from the very beginning. It has been undeniably traumatic to say the least. To this date, a county detective visited with Codi’s mom one time. She and I have had one meeting with the Assistant District Attorney – Mr. Kevin Chernosky. Not one meeting has taken place with the Allegheny County District Attorney – Mr. Stephen Zappala, nor has there been any contact. Throughout the entire meeting with Mr. Chernosky, he spent over two hours defending the acts of the criminals. He flat out lied to me concerning an individual’s involvement in the murder.
Despite overwhelming evidence, to include a confession, they refuse to bring the case in front of a grand jury or refuse to bring any charges whatsoever against the perpetrators. In what should have been an open and closed case, the investigation, in our opinion, has been conducted in an extremely poor and completely unprofessional manner. Lack of evidence seized – physical and digital, the house was not made a crime scene, lack of interviews, etc. Our family feels very strongly that someone in the county is covering for one or more of the murderers. That is the only thing that would make sense as to why our family has been treated this way and why nothing is being done to bring justice for my son. The family has reached out to the State Attorney General, the FBI, and various Senators. We continue to hit a brick wall because nobody seems to want to help. Until the Allegheny County officials decide to move forward with trying this case, we are helpless in the course of bringing justice for my son’s murder. As a United States Air Force Veteran and a proud citizen of this country, I could have never imagined someone who has lost their child to violent crime would ever be treated the way my family has been treated. I have lost complete faith in the process of our justice system and those that can control the investigation at will with seemingly no oversight. I am pleading for your help with our case. We need national exposure for this case and someone that can uncover how the case has been so mishandled. Someone who will bring justice for my son’s murder. I have over sixty pages of letters written to Mr. Chernosky, containing information about my son’s murder – text messages from individuals who attended the party, names, a confession, descriptions of how my son was murdered, etc. I would be more than happy to share all of the information our family has compiled. I sincerely hope to hear back from you and want to thank you for your time. Please contact me any time to discuss. Thank you. Sincerely, John J. Joyce Mobile: 513-872-9857
