BREAKING: White House Releases Tax Info Ahead Of Rachel Maddow, Claims It’s Illegal To Release Return
While MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is currently breaking a story regarding being the first reporter (and network) to release a tax return of President Donald Trump from 2005, The White House got ahead of her tonight.
They released a statement a few minutes before her show started airing, claiming that, “You know you are desperate for ratings when you are willing to violate the law to push a story about two pages of tax returns from over a decade ago. Before being elected President, Mr. Trump was one of the most successful businessmen in the world with a responsibility to his company, his family and his employees to pay no more tax than legally required.”
They added that it is “totally illegal to steal and publish tax returns.”
They also got specific, noting that Trump made $150 million in income and paid $38 million in income taxes in 2005, beating MSNBC at their own game.
The White House’s statement wrapped with saying that, “The dishonest media can continue to make this part of their agenda, while the President will focus on his, which includes tax reform that will benefit all Americans.”
