Trump Insists Obama Wire Tapped Him, FBI Asks Justice Department To Refute Claim
While President Donald Trump was doing so well after at not lashing out a ton on Twitter after his great speech to Congress, it seems good things don’t last. Saturday, Trump took to Twitter to make quite possibly his most obscene allegation yet.
Specifically, Trump issued the following tweets:
– “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”
– “Is it legal for a sitting President to be ‘wire tapping’ a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!”
– “I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!”
– “How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”
A lot of the above is alarming, as Trump is accusing former President Barack Obama of wire tapping his phones in Trump tower before the election. It’s also equally concerning that Trump doesn’t know that tap is not spelled tapp.
Since this came out, The New York Times is reporting that the director of the FBI, James Comey, has asked the Justice Department to “publicly reject” what Trump has said. The Times claims that Comey “argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected.”
Trump is not one to back down from a fight, though, and as of yesterday, he is still insisting Congress look into this.
Stay tuned, as this is bound to get even more interesting than it already has.
