BREAKING: Borussia Dortmund Team Bus Struck by Explosion, 1 Player Injured
UPDATE: UEFA postponed the match until Wednesday, according to ESPN FC. Spanish paper Sport (via Eurosport’s Tom Adams) reported Bartra suffered an injury to his hand and described the 26-year-old as “OK but in shock.”
The police stated the incident happened after 7:00pm (local time) in Hoechsten, outside Dortmund. “It is not yet possible to say exactly what the explosion was or exactly where something exploded,” police said.
UPDATE: Dortmund police confirmed that there had been three explosions in the area, however they did not release any more information and cautioned against any rumors or speculation.
Borussia Dortmund’s team bus was hit by an explosion en route to today’s match against Monaco, the team said.
Defender Marc Barta was reportedly injured and taken to the hospital. Dortmund’s release also says that there’s no danger in the vicinity of the stadium.
Bild is reporting that an explosive on the road caused the windows of the bus to shatter, and that the only player injured was defender Marc Bartra.
Per Fox Sports 1, the match has been delayed.
