BREAKING: Flynn Offers To Testify In Russia Investigation In Exchange For Immunity
We can’t say we saw this one coming, but in Trump’s America, it’s sometimes hard to know exactly what to expect.
Tonight, news has broken via The Wall Street Journal that Michael Flynn, the former National Security Advisor for President Trump, has offered to testify in the investigation regarding Russia in exchange for immunity from being prosecuted.
As those who followed Flynn’s story know, he resigned from his position last month due to a situation involving him reportedly communicating with Russia.
According to The Wall Street Journal‘s report, his offer has not been accepted as of this time by any party involved in the investigation he’s offering to testify in.
Flynn’s lawyer released the following statement regarding the ordeal:
“General Flynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it, should the circumstances permit.
“Notwithstanding his life of national service, the media are awash with unfounded allegations, outrageous claims of treason, and vicious innuendo directed against him. He is now the target of unsubstantiated public demands by Members of Congress and other political critics that he be criminally investigated
No reasonable person, who has the benefit of advice from counsel, would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch hunt environment without assurances against unfair prosecution.”
While it’s not certain if Flynn actually did anything wrong to date, it is suspect he would offer to talk on Trump’s Russian investigation if granted immunity if he wasn’t nervous about something that didn’t paint him in the best light coming to the forefront.
Only time will tell if his offer is accepted, and we will be sure to keep you posted.
