Chino Hills High School Coach Blasts LaVar Ball For Trying To Undermine His Authority
Last season, the Chino Hills basketball squad that featured LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball, put up a 30-3 record and received plenty of national coverage, but all was not well according to the team’s coach.
In an interview with USA Today FTW, Stephen Gilling described what it was like to coach with the outspoken LaVar Ball trying to undermine his every move.
Gilling described various incidents where Ball tried to undermine him, including instructing players on the side on what to do, going into the team’s locker room and sitting down with them, and more!
According to Gilling, he even went as far as to say,“I run Chino Hills! I run UCLA, about to run the NBA!”
Gilling was an assistant coach at Chino Hills under Steve Baik for two years. Together, Baik and Gilling’s staff led Chino Hills to an undefeated season and Super 25 title in 2016 with Lonzo on the roster.
However Gilling’s relationship with Ball is not a good one.
“He wants to shoot people down for him to look good,” Gilling said in the interview. “That’s how he is, but it doesn’t affect me.”
We have been in talks with LaVar’s publicist, and hope to have a interview with the creator of the Big Baller Brand sometime next week. Stay tuned.
