EXCLUSIVE: T.I. – Shut Down Hard In Battle With Ex-Employees over Unpaid Wages
T.I. isn’t having a great 2017 … The Dirty broke the story of his divorce from Tiny … and now we can exclusively report T.I. is being shut down hard in the legal battle filed by 12 of his former employees at his ATL restaurant.
Last year, T.I. was sued by 12 former employees of his ATL restaurant Scales 925.
The ex-workers accuses the rapper and his business partner Charles Hughes of screwing them out of wages & never paying overtime. The former workers said their paychecks sometimes bounced, they were asked to work off the clock and weren’t paid for all hours.
They sued demanding back pay and all unpaid overtime money, in excess of $50k in damages!
T.I. fired back at his ex-employees saying he can’t be on the hook for the unpaid wages issues … saying he wasn’t responsible for day-to-day operations for the restaurant. He demanded the claims against him be tossed.
Then on January 18th, the judge came back with his decision and sided with the ex-employees … by denying the rapper’s motion to have the case dismissed.
The judge says despite T.I.’s argument he wasn’t hands on with the business … his name was on the lease, he shared the profits with his partner and he had joint rights to control all aspects of the business. He says there is evidence thus far to allow the case to continue on … shutting down T.I. … noting the rapper can be held liable for wrongful acts or omissions by his business partner.
Not a strong start to the new year for Clifford Joseph Harris Jr.
