EXCLUSIVE: Amber Marchese Honored At American Cancer Society Gala, Calls Herself “A Two Time Cancer Thriver”
This past Friday night, I had the pleasure of attending the American Cancer Society Night of Wine and Roses Gala, where Real Housewives of New Jersey and Marriage Bootcamp: Reality Stars star Amber Marchese was honored as the “Shining Star.”
Marchese, who looked stunning in a gold sequined dress, attended the gala with her entire family and group of friends there to support her. Also in attendance was RHONJ star Jacqueline Laurita and her husband, Chris.
At the gala, Marchese gave a moving and inspirational speech that brought the crowd to their feet with rapturous applause when she was finished. We have obtained a copy of the speech to share.
Here is the speech in its entirety:
“I am so honored to accept this amazing recognition and my deepest thank you to the committee for giving me this honor. As a two time cancer thriver, because apparently I did not think 1x survivor was impressive enough on my resume. I have witnessed and felt so much heart ache, fear, and sadness. Throughout this entire journey an old saying stuck with me, ‘the more we suffer the closer we are to God’ and this was very true for me. All survivors, their families and the professionals that give us care understand the hardships and burdens that come with a diagnosis, but a lucky few understand that it can also be a gift.
As a thriver, I have had the great pleasure of meeting Dr. Nissenblatt, Marlene, the wonderful professionals at his office and Robert Wood Johnson. I have met countless doctors and nurses who cared for me with a kindness that I never knew existed. Beyond that, while undergoing countless surgeries and treatments, I had time to reflect upon my life. It completely changed who I am as a human being…..and for the better I might add. I hold onto my children even tighter, I don’t take a single moment for granted with my family and friends.
For me, the most astonishing, incomprehensible part about all of this entire experience is that this darn diagnosis, the darkness moment in my life, has also created this shining moment now with all of you!!!!
From cancer, to TV, back to cancer, back to TV, who knows what’s next…..(my poor husband, buckle up sweetie for next 10 years)…… I can honestly say that I have never been happier, more at peace and content in my life. Cancer has strengthened my faith, my will, passion and strength ………and that is a gift from God.
God Bless all of you and next time you talk to a survivor….excuse me, I mean a thriver….know that your donations tonight and for years to come may help them find their gift. Thank you for supporting the American Cancer Society.”
Congrats, Amber, on this wonderful honor and for continuing to use your platform to raise awareness to such an important and meaningful cause.
