EXCLUSIVE: David Norton ON MAFS Second Chances- “I Believe In The Process”

Last week, we exclusively spoke with Married At First Sight Second Chances star David Norton. In addition to talking about why he gave love a second chance, we spoke about why he felt confident enough to give the experts a second chance after his relationship didn’t work out on season three of Married At First Sight, if he had flashbacks to that initial relationship while filming this new show, and more.

On giving the experts a second chance to find him love, he shared that, “Well it’s nice I have the final say. Look at the second episode- Dr. Pepper gave me advice, I should have followed that advice, but I didn’t and insanity ensued. But it was still my decision on how to navigate this thing.”

“I also don’t look at it that ‘It didn’t work out’ or that the experts made a mistake,” Norton continued. ” I saw a lot of positives in Ashley and I could see why the experts matched us like they did. Love is not black and white. You can put two perfect people together and it still may not work out. Love takes work, there’s always going to be twists and turns to navigate and work through as a team. Sometimes things just don’t work out they way they should or you want them to for one reason or another. Fate is a funny thing like that. I am confident in the process and truly believe everything happens for a reason.”

Speaking of his ex-wife Ashley, did he have flashbacks to her while filming this new show?

“Maybe like three times off the top of my head that I can think of I had a flashback,” Norton shared. “I haven’t spoken to her, which I think is normal. How many people willingly talk to their ex husband/wife, especially when there are no kids involved? My guess would be not many. That’s not to say I don’t wish her and her family good things- I absolutely do. We just don’t talk, but I hope she has found the happy ending to her story.”

So what can we expect to see from Norton as the season goes on?

“I cant give too much away,” he shared. “But if you really look at Second Chances as the next chapter in my story, and you have followed that story from episode 1 of Married at First Sight to the last episode of Second Chances, it’s interesting… I think you will start to see me really grow as a person. What I mean by that is from MAFS and even the first few episodes of this season, I think people can pick up that I am not very confident in my decisions, and will just go with the flow even if its not right.”

Norton wrapped with telling us that, “That changes, and I think you already started to see that…I know what I want and am willing to do whatever it takes to get it, but I am not going to allow myself to sacrifice my own thoughts and beliefs to get there….Now with that being said, whenever I think I figured out all the answers, the questions change.”

Married At First Sight Second Chances airs on Lifetime every Thursday at 10:15 PM EST.
