EXCLUSIVE: Erykah Badu – Sued for Posting Photo of HERSELF on Twitter, Photographer Furious over Illegal Use of Her work
The Dirty can exclusively reveal Erykah Badu is being accused of screwing over a well-known photographer by ripping off her work … her alleged wrongdoing … posting a photo of HERSELF to her social media profile.
Paige Parsons filed suit against Badu and Universal Music in Federal Court. She describes herself as an internationally-recognized, award-winning, professional photographer specializing in bands and musicians.
Back in 2009, she took a photograph of Erykah Badu at the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington.
Later she posted a copy of the copyrighted image on social media. However, Badu allegedly saw the photo and began using it without permission … posting it as her profiled picture and background on Twitter without credit.
She reached out to Badu’s rep and agreed to let the singer use the photo for social media only … only to see the image used in a variety of media outlets in 2010 which coincided with the released of her new album.
Parsons is demanding damages for the unauthorized use of her work and calls the actions of Badu and her reps intentional and without regard for her rights.
