EXCLUSIVE: Ex-NFL star Clinton Portis – Demands $170k Casino Debt Be Wiped Clean
The Dirty can exclusively reveal ex-NFL star Clinton Portis is demanding his $170k casino debt be wiped clean in his bankruptcy … despite their suit against him accusing him of fraud.
Back in 2015, the ex-NFL star filed for bankruptcy with $5 million in liabilities and $13 million in assets (with $10 million not even guaranteed and only potential monies from 2 pending lawsuits) … this despite him making over $43 million in his nine NFL season.
Then soon after he filed, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa sued Portis demanding the $170k he owes them NOT be wiped clean in the bankruptcy … claiming he took out the casino loans fully knowing he wasn’t able to pay them back.
Back in 2011, Portis took out a $200k credit line in chips to gamble with at the casino. He wrote them 6 checks for money owed but they were bad checks and bounced … leaving an unpaid balance of $170k, which they demanded he be ordered to pay
Then on March 10th, Portis fired back at the lawsuit demanding the $170k be wiped clean in his bankruptcy … saying he never committed fraud and didn’t mean to screw them out of the money.
The ex-NFL star explains at the time he was in the ninth season as a running back with the Redskins and was highly compensated, earning $7.69 million for the recent season. However, he was released shortly after and found out his financial state was in a dire state.
