EXCLUSIVE: J.R. Smith – Fires Back at 19-Year-Old’s $2.5 Million Dollar Assault Lawsuit, Says Kid’s Responsible For Any Injuries NOT Him

Nik, looks like J.R. Smith is firing back at the $2.5 million dollar lawsuit accusing him of assaulting a 19-year-old outside a NY pizza joint… with the NBA star blaming the teenager for being at fault for his own injuries and demanding the entire suit be tossed out of court

Back in March, the NBA star was sued by Justin Brown for allegedly attacking him outside a New York Pizza joint. He demanded over $2.5 million in damages from J.R.

The teenager he ran into J.R. while hanging out at the Artichoke Basille’s Pizza in Chelsea around 4am. He approached the NBA star with his friend – who were both fans – to ask for a photo with him.

J.R. refused the request and began making derogatory and threatening comments towards him and his friend. Things got worse when the verbal abuse culminated in J.R. physically attacking the teenager.

He claims J.R. rushed at him from across the street, grabbed and struck him in his head and neck. The man says he did nothing to provoke such an attack and never posed a threat to J.R. Smith.

Following the attack, the man required medical attention and endured significant emotional distress along with pain, fear and humiliation. The NY prosecutors did not charge J.R. over the alleged incident citing not enough evidence to support prosecution.

Brown sued the NBA star for assault demanding no less than $2.5 million in damages. J.R. has now headed to court blasting the 19-year-old’s lawsuit and demanded the entire case be thrown out of court.

The NBA star denies all allegations that he assaulted the man outside the NY pizza spot. He says he caused the man no harm or damage and if he was injured it was his own fault. Further, he accuses the man of being responsible due to his own negligence and conduct… and points if the court does determine he was damaged… that the amount awarded to him be reduced by the percentage that he contributed to the situation. J.R. argues Brown knew all risks and dangers connected with the situation alleged in the complaint and therefore he has no case. He is demanding the entire $2.5 million lawsuit be tossed out of court.
