EXCLUSIVE: Joe Gorga Involved In Low Income Housing Scandal – Tenants Risking Eviction

Fresh off the heels of her store Envy being cleaned out by her business partner, it seems Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga is at the forefront of another scandal – only, this time, it doesn’t involve her as much as it involves her husband, Joe Gorga.

According to multiple sources The Dirty has exclusively spoken to … Joe Gorga owns property at 57 Westervelt Avenue in Hawthorne, New Jersey.

The property, which was described in a 2014 listing as a “Brand New Luxury Apartment Complex @ Millview Lofts! Features Ground Level Unit With 3 Bedrooms! While there’s no issue with Joe Gorga owning property, our insiders tell us that he has gotten himself into a bit of a bind with it.

“When Joe acquired the building -which used to be a factory- he had promised the Hawthorne Planning Board that six of the units in the building would be low income housing,” our insiders detailed.

“As of yet, he has yet to make any of the units in the building low income, which is an issue as his approval from the Hawthorne Planning Board in buying the building was partially based on his agreement to provide low income housing,” our sources added.

According to board meeting minutes dated July, 2014, Joe did seek “permission to provide all of the required affordable units off site” and he was granted approval for that; however, to date, local news reports that he still has not closed on any property intended for the units.

In addition, our sources added, “Joe’s tenants at his luxury property are definitely risking eviction if this isn’t settled soon, as he can lose his CO (Certificate of Occupancy) for the building due to him not making good on his promise.”
