EXCLUSIVE: Sean Kingston – Jeweler Accuses Rapper of Refusing to Hand over Financial Info, Demands He Be Found in Contempt
The Dirty can exclusively reveal that singer Sean Kingston has been accused of refusing to comply with a court order and answer questions on his financial state – in the legal battle with a jeweler over unpaid diamonds – and now the company is demanding he be found in contempt of court.
A Florida-based jeweler named Haimov Jewelers has sued the Beautiful Girls singer, accusing him of screwing them out of $44K by refusing to pay for items they loaned him.
The company said they allowed Kingston to take a Rolex and diamond bracelet from their store, due to his promise he would pay the bill the next day. The day came, though, and he never showed up. Despite numerous demands, the lawsuit alleges he blew off the jeweler.
This led the jewelry store to sue, demanding $44k+ in damages for the unpaid bill. Kingston – famous not only for his songs, but also for blowing off lawsuits – decided to blow this one off too
Earlier this year, the judge granted the motion for default judgement in the amount of $314,138.22, stating the rapper was served but failed to respond in court.
Then, earlier this month, the jeweler headed back to court demanding Kingston be found in contempt of court and sanctioned for his behavior
They explain he was served with the default judgement documents and, per the court order, he was to complete a financial information sheet for the company to determine the best way to collect on their $314k. Kingston failed to hand over the answers on his income, assets and property despite the court order.
While the singer has claimed in his lyrics before that “I know it’s rough,” as rough as it may be, this sounds like his legal issues surrounding this case are only going to keep getting rougher if he doesn’t start to comply.
