EXCLUSIVE: Forever 21 – Transgender Woman Accuses Retail Giant of Discrimination, Says Manager Berated Her & Said She Was “Going to Hell” for “Violating God’s Will”
The Dirty can exclusively reveal a transgender woman is suing her former employer, Forever 21, accusing them of severe discrimination during her years working for the company … saying a manger harassed her for years telling her she was “going to hell” for “violating God’s will”.
Anastasia aka Mark Garcia sued Forever 21 and manager Manuel Ruiz for sex discrimination
Garcia began working for the retail store in 2010 when she was 19-years-old, and still presenting herself publicly as a man. Then in 2013, she decided to begin her transformation to a woman by taking testosterone-blocking and estrogen hormones, wearing women’s clothing, makeup and asked her bosses to refer to her as “Anastasia”.
For the next 2.5 years, she claims a new manager and born-again Christian, Manuel Ruiz, often had long religious rants in the workplace, exclaiming that she and other transgender people are “violating God’s will” and are “going to hell”.
Then in June 2016, she claims she developed serious mental and medical problems as a result of the discrimination and was discharged from her job. Garcia now finds herself unemployed and unable to obtain a new job and suffers from major depressive disorder, extreme anxiety, disorder and panic disorder .. and is seeking unspecified damages.
