EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Simpson – Father Joe Simpson Settles Defamation Battle with Ex-Business Partner Over $120 Million Sale of Jessica Simpson’s Fashion Company
The Dirty can exclusively reveal Jessica Simpson’s father Joe Simpson has reached a confidential settlement in the legal battle with his ex-business partner … in which he accuses the man of defaming him and attempting to ruin his professional reputation.
Back in 2015 TMZ reported, a man named Jeffrey Bowler sued Jessica Simpson, her father Joe, mother Tina and sister Ashlee accusing them of screwing him out of $12 million dollars from the sale of the singer’s fashion company.
Bowler explained he made a deal with Joe in which he would be paid a 10% finder’s fee if he could find a buyer for The Jessica Simpson Collection …. which was sold in 2015 for a reported $120 million dollars. He admitted he did not have a written contract with Joe due to the deal being made on the phone over 10 years ago.
A rep for Jessica released a statement at the time stating she “has never met Mr. Bowler nor has she ever had any dealings with him whatsoever.”
Following the man filing his $12 million dollar suit against Jessica Simpson and her family … Joe Simpson headed to NY Court and slapped Bowler with his own lawsuit. Joe accused Bowler of attempting to extort the Simpson family over the sale of her company. He claimed that he did work with Bowler in 2010 to license her makeup line. However, he explained that the deal died years ago. The singer’s dad said the $120 million dollar deal had nothing to do with Bowler and he was never asked to find a buyer for her fashion business.
Then recently, Joe Simpson and his ex-business partner filed a stipulation of discontinuance in the case stating they have reached a confidential agreement in which all claims against the other in the case will be dismissed.
