Laverne Cox, Danielle Brooks on where the show is now, Black Lives Matter and the show being hacked and spread online at ‘Orange is the New Black’ Interview
This Friday, the new season of Orange Is The New Black comes out on Netflix. While we can’t wait for the show to return, some interviews that have surfaced- including this one with Laverne Cox and Danielle Brooks– have us even more excited for the show’s return.
When discussing the entire season being told in “real time” over a period of three days, Brooks shared that, “The depth of our characters- I mean, that’s what you pray for as an actor, that every season gets deeper and deeper… These writers manage to give all of us more to work with every season.”
“When it comes to the characters- it’s like, it’s because of what’s going on in America, it’s so potent right now,” she added. “So we cannot help but to feel the weight of our country. And so we get to put that directly into our work. It’s been a great journey in the sense of keeping people woke.”
Cox also stated that, “I think we still manage to be Orange Is The New black. We manage to be able to infuse humor into these very sort of intense circumstances that really have come out of grieving… Certainly it’s political, but at the heart of it are human beings responding in a psychological and emotional way.”
The new season of Orange Is The New Black sounds like it is going to be an intense journey to watch, and we, for one, cannot wait.
