Melissa Gorga – “Black Cloud Of Death” When It Comes To Business
This past week, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga was in for quite the shock when her boutique was cleaned out by her business partner, Jackie Beard Robinson. (see exclusive video The Dirty shared here).
In an interview with Too Fab, Robinson noted that Gorga had “a lot of inexperience in business.”
While Robinson clearly had to learn this lesson the hard way, it comes as no surprise to The Dirty, as Gorga has had a history of failed businesses.
Take, for example, her singing career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gorga’s first single “On Display” during season three of the show only sold a measley 8,000 songs! For comparison’s sake, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak sold 101,000 downloads of her song. We’d definitely call Gorga’s song a flop!
Her most recent song, Never Let Me Go, which came out in 2013, also seems to have been an even bigger miss, as it only received 181 reviews on iTunes, compared to On Display which received 2,142 reviews.
Then, Gorga released her book, Love Italian Style. Upon its release, the book immediately drew up a ton of controversy due to people claiming a section showed Gorga promoting “marital rape.” Unlike her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice’s multiple books, Gorga’s book never touched The New York Times Bestseller list. It also seemed to fare poorly in sales, as a 2014 article claims Gorga’s book only sold 263 hardcover copies and 940 Kindle copies as of October 2013. The current rank of the book on Amazon is #900,596, so it’s clearly not had a surge of success since it debuted.
Examining all of the data- and, bearing in mind her recent issues with Envy- it seems Gorga may want to stop while she’s ahead, as the only business venture she’s been successful in to date has been changing her nose for the better.
