Michael Jackson – Daughter Paris Blasts Actor Joseph Fiennes for Insulting Portrayal of Dad, Show Pulled From Schedule Following Outcry
A British show Urban Myths had a episode named, Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon which was a fictional re-imagining of the urban legend that Michael Jackson along with Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando took a road trip following 9/11 from New York to Los Angeles.
The episode was attacked by critics shortly after the project was announced. Fans accused the producers of “whitewashing” the pop star by having white actor Joseph Fiennes play him.
A day after the trailer premiered, MJ’s daughter Paris Jackson took to Twitter blasting the show saying the preview made her want to vomit. She spoke about how it angered her due to her belief the portrayal of her father and godmother Elizabeth was intentionally insulting. She asked, “Where is the respect?”
Following her social media rant the show was pulled from the schedule with the execs releasing the statement, “We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon, a half-hour episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series, in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family”.
Looks like a win for Paris Jackson.
