EXCLUSIVE: Jersey Shore’s The Situation – Plea Deal Negotiations Underway In Tax Evasion Criminal Case
The Dirty can exclusively reveal Jersey Shore star The Situation is currently hashing out a potential plea deal in his tax evasion criminal case and the prosecutors have requested a continuance of the trial in hopes they can finalize a deal with the reality star.
The Situation aka Michael Sorrentino was charged with tax evasion in New Jersey back in 2014. The U.S. Attorney in New Jersey accused the reality star of not paying all his taxes on a total of 8.9 million he earned.
The indictment accused him of fraudulently lying about how much he made on his tax returns to make it appear he paid the full amount he owed. They claimed the reality star filed false tax returns that did not report millions he made from nightclub and liquor store appearances.
The feds also accused Sorrentino of inflating business expenses for luxury cars and clothing … and writing them off on his taxes as business expenses. The reality star plead not guilty to the charges. He is facing up to 9 years in prison and a fine up to $1.1 million dollars.
Then on February 2nd, docs were filed in the case explaining the reality star and prosecutors are currently in plea deal negotiations in an attempt to reach a settlement prior to a court trial.
The Situation and prosecutors requested a continuance for the trial saying they are attempting to work out a potential agreement and both desire additional time to enter a plea in court. The judge signed off on the continuance leaving the Situation to attempt to sign a deal with no prison time or an amount substantially less than the 9 years he is facing.
